I ordered one of these and got the Taiwan version. I was only able to write to my microSD card at about 30k/sec from my PC. Kingston promptly admitted there was something wrong and agreed to cross ship me another one for a $17 hold on my credit card. I called on Friday, and it was here on Monday. They are even paying for return shipping. The new card is a Japaneses version, and works like a champ at 30x unpatched (on Mario Kart at least). Kingston has earned a customer for life over this.

The shipping was free for me. I have to take it to an "approved" fed ex location. I did do it by calling them, perhaps there is a difference between online and voice returns. I called them via this number: 1 (800) 835-6575

After getting two made in Taiwan cards, I just ordered a 1GB made in Japan card by Toshiba on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270086438245

Toshiba makes the Kingston made in Japan cards. Only $18 shipped. Worth the extra few dollars for guaranteed Japan card.
