Dumping SAV from real cart to R4?

I've been searching around ... no luck .. But is there any way you can dump a real cart's save area to a .SAV file using a slot 1 solution like the R4?  I mean, can you patch Rein to do it?

I'm guessing not, but hey -- I'm not always up on the times!

Thanks ...

You should be able to if there was a version of rain with the correct software. You can safely remove slot 1 cards that aren't being accessed (I used to switch out my passme for my real DS carts in rain when I wanted to backup their saves).

AFAIK Rein is not patched for DLDI and it also writes to the CF/SD immediately, so swapping would not work.

You'd need a specialized save backup program to do this.  One that would:

1.  Start from the R4 cart and run totally from the DS system RAM and not complain about the carts getting switched
2.  Copy the save data from the retail DS cart to the DS system RAM
3.  Copy the save data from the DS system RAM to the R4 after you've swapped everything around

I've been working on implementing DLDI in ReinMoon. If anybody is interested in a work-in-progress version, just PM me. Be aware that it will definitely be buggy.

Or get a cheap slot 2 device?  The R4 can act as a nopass, right?  I am interested in this as when I get the R4 I will want to put my tetris and clubhouse games save on it.
