Anyone know if there's any DS-Linker patch for Diddy Kong Racing?

I"m getting the Please re-insert the Cartridge message. The only thing on the website, is a firmware and moonshell download(which I have the latest firmware).

So any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Is there a way to manually set the saver size on a DS-Linker?  The "please re-insert cartridge" thing probably means it can't detect the save properly.

Yes there is one but the way to manually change it all depends on the version of the OS you are using.

To change the savetype, you hold select and hit left-right button
Onyx DS with R4 and SC lite, 2x1g kingston
Ice blue DS with R4
Gray phat DS with SCSD and 512M

Altor

Yeah I can verify that, savetype's all that's wrong.  I think you want 2M, if I remember right.  Crappy game anyway...

Wow, thanks for the help guys.

It's my girls and she has it right now, so I can't try it. But 2M is a type of save on the card?

I was getting this problem with Diddy Kong, and Underground Pool. And it has the latest OS.

Thanks for the help

EDIT: Nope, actually I don't have the latest OS. I just noticed on their homepage they released 122N a couple days ago. That wasn't there the last time was on.

`Hey guys,

I wanted to thank you again for mentioning about changing the save. She finally remembered to bring her Linker over. And I updated it to the latest firmware, and I changed the saves on the games that I couldn't get to run before. And now they fire right up.

I even put PoR on it. And after I changed the save on it, it fired right up too. And I've been playing it for about forty five minutes now, and I haven't had not one problem. No slow down, no freezes or crashes, nothing. And it really surprised me. I mean, my G6 runs the game perfectly, but I thought for some reason the Linker would have trouble with it. But not at all.

I really don't see why the DS-Linker isn't more popular. I know it has a couple draw backs. The menu isn't the prettiest, but hopefully they fix that in a future firmware. And I guess you can't run homebrew on it. Well, I don't run homebrew on my G6 either. I run all my homebrew on my psp, because it runs almost all SNES and NES games at full speed, with no other problems. So I don't even bother with it on my DS right now, since a lot of the games have trouble running. I would much rather run homebrew on my DS, but, I can't have everything.

But anyways, if this card had upgradeable memory, I would've probably ordered it, instead of the R4. So for the ones that totally dismiss the Linker, don't be so quick too.

Oh, I have one more question about it: Does anyone know if there is a soft reset for it? She's always has to turn the DS off, when she wants to switch to a different game. And I've tried every button combination. So I'm hoping someone else knows something that I don't about it.

Thanks for all the help/

Use the MK5 DLDI patch and it works perfectly. The MK5 is the same as the DS-Linker, as far as I know you can even interchange the firmware!

Hi

And the dslinker is the same as the n-card as well.

I just wish you could do a soft-reset. If you could one of the clones would be SO mine... I mean, look at the price of the N-card!

Thanks sinkhead. What's an MK5 DLDI Patch? I"ll search for it, but I just thought you can maybe explain it a little a better. But thanks though. She doesn't have a psp, so she'll be happy to know that some nes and snes games can be played it on it.

And yeah Hi, that's the only major downfall I can see of the Linker right now. Not having a soft reset right. And it's not like there's an official DS-Linker forums, so those things really can't be mentioned, lol. The reset I"ve found, is the in game reset, that takes you back to the actual games menu. But nothing to take you back to the Linkers menu.

w00t, my wiki article is being suggested by other people!
*feels proud*

In any case, so DS-Linker (not DSLink, right?) = MK5 = N-card?  This would be good info to add to the wiki.

h8uthemost

Cool, thank for the link to the wiki sinkhead. I really appreciate it.

Actually, N-CARD = DS-Linker = MK5 = XP Card = Fire Linker = a lot of other cards I can't remember right now

I haven't even heard of those other cards. Besides the Linker of course. What are they, just like all knock offs? The DS-Linker is considered a knock off too?
