I am using a SC Lite with 1.63 Firmware, I am thinking of updating to 1.70, but I have heard some rumors that there are incompatibilites with certain games and homebrew when using 1.70. Can anyone verify if these are rumors or not. If they are not rumors, what games and homebrew are affected.

kkan

ALL DS roms are 100% compatible  :)

not sure on all homebrew as I have supercard rumble mini sd and some of those dont work with rumble  :(

One homebrew I can report that works with 1.70 is that moonshell 1.6 does fine :)

liquidnitrogen

well.. 1.7 means 100% nds but

it breaks QPC for GBA roms... which for some games is a MUST cuz it lags the heck out if not used...

though i think dumpSRAM works for Supercard SD/miniSD, it will not for SC lite...

:(

EDIT: hm.. there seems to be a DLDI compiled version now... 1.2 but i havent tested it yet... due to lack of supercard and ds... :( aw.. its being held hostage... arg!

anyways, yeah. and i think most homebrew still work

Hmm  I'm regular on here but is dump sram available for SC CF ?

It should work out of the box for SC CF, though if it doesn't, try patching it with the correct DLDI patch.

Hmm....you know......I hear a lot of people talk about 1.70 breaking QPC saving.

My SCminiSD is running the 1.70fw and I use QPC saving all the time. Works fine.....though my SC is only 2-3 months old.  Don't know if that's important.
Current setup:
Onyx DSlite/R4DS/SCminiSD
2gig Transcend card for the SCminiSD
2gig Kingston for the R4DS
4 gigglingbytes of games/apps! WOOT!

My Supercard miniSD is only 4-5 months old, and QPC saving broke with 1.7.  It seems to be a hit-or-miss thing.

On 1.7 if you read the screen it now says LOAD instead of SAVE so 1.7 changed the functionality - It isn't hit or miss, if you're running 1.7 then QPC cannot work using the saver menu in the supercard - however I've read on the forum there is an app called SRAMDumper which will save the SRAM - I've not searched for the link yet.

When 1.7 originally came out there was a problem with some firmwares and Saving (not just QPC saver), another firmware was released promptly which sorted it, unfortunately they didn't name it 1.71 which would save all the confusion over which version of 1.7 had the problem!

It says load in nds mode but save in GBA mode on my 1.7 SCCF... I don't know what significance that is because I have never really used QPC; maybe they changed the behaviour/message in nds mode to make it easier to use superpass2.

It works in GBA mode?  I'll have to test this myself.

And some Supercards with 1.7 do indeed say "save" instead of "load" hence why it's hit-or-miss.  It does work for some people.

And the program name is DumpSRAM, and it can be found on the DS sections of http://forum.gbadev.org

I've also posted the link to DumpSRAM several times myself, so you can search my posts if you'd like.

Hi!

I've got my supercard sd in use with an old gameboy advance. Everytime i try to upgrade to version 1.70 the progress stops at 239kb. If I'm trying to downgrade to 1.63 (the originally installed firmware version) the error also appears.  :(
The only version that works is 1.62. Does anybody know how to handle this problem?

Thanx in advance

yeah to save with qpc on 1.70 with scsd, simply boot it into gba mode instead of ds mode, works like a charm
