I'm not too sure h8uthemost, the R4 is one of the easiest cards I have used, and transfer time really pisses people off...

1. Have support for all roms (with maybe a few saver problems, I'm SURE one could find a way to get around this.)
2. No updates needed
3. Would be great for homebrew developers
4. Would be simple to use
5. Is that enouph?
It's been done. Only with a good transflash instead of regular memory. Clean ROM support is here, drag and drop, that's all there is to it. We're just two updates away from perfect rom support. DLDI has made everything simple for homebrew developers. We don't need another card.

BUT we don't know about future roms. They might cause problems. It would be better to just have "one" (You know what "one" is by know don't you?)

We do have didi, but I refuse to believe, yes REFUSE, that didi works fantastic. I think sooner or later we'll start having problems with it, aka bugs on one card but not the other card. And if these bugs are big bugs, we might be back to where we were before Didi. Okay, that's a huge exaggeration, but you see my point, right?

And the fact is, I still have found the gba flash cart I bought for my sister easer to get working than my scdsone. And I think that there is a reason for this.

I actually think it's easy enough as it is. Just drop the clean rom onto the card, card goes into scds, scds goes into ds, turn on ds, select game, GO.
It seems pretty unnessecary to me to make it easier than it already is. In fact getting the rom is harder than getting it to work.
And if you would have just 'one' you would have to think about the effect on the price. If there's no competition they can sell it for whatever they like. We can get slot 1 solutions for less than $ 60,-. If there was only one, we would jump back to early gba flashcard prices like that. In fact the whole 'one' thing is just wishfull thinking. Wherever there is a market, there will be competition.
And what is this so-called Didi? DLDI is here to stay buddy, there's no need anymore for compiling for different fat libraries, we just have one universal library that you can change to your own in just a couple of clicks from your mouse.
'Is that enough?'

Yeah, I know it. I also think my R4 is one of the easiest flash cards I've had. I'm just erk'd by the whole memory thing. And I know that it's not the cards fault that some games don't work with certain kinds of memory cards, but still.

I've been going through a lot of trouble trying to find a Japanese Kingston. And I finally was told about an auction on eBay, that people have bought them from. So I bought one. But this jack*** hasn't messaged me back to let me know if it's been sent or not. So I don't know if I'm even going to get it. And if I don't, then I'm done with that card. I'm sick of searching for the right media for it.

And as long as the UFPEX 16G's transfer times is at least as good as the Linkers, than I'll be cool with it. It'll just be nice to know that every game i put on it, will run.

I just got my Express Card 16Gb in the mail today.  (same thing as UFPEX 16)

VERY nice.  transfer speeds dont' bother me at all.  the performance is top notch.  feels like a "real" flash cart to me.  2GB is more than enough room for all my favourite games.

NICE

Never heard of the Express Card. But it must just be like the UFPEX or DS-Linker. So that means you have absolute 100% compatibility. I bet PoR and Downhill Jam are running beautifully on it.

Does yours have Soft Reset? That's the only thing the Linker and UFPEX needs.

I'm thinking of trading my R4 for the 16G DS-Linker. But, I have a Japanese Kingston coming. So I'm just not sure what to do.

But anyways, congrats on your card. Where did you order it from?

winsunx.  it's same thing as UFPEX.  actually running UFPEX firmware on it now.  I tried flashing to it for fun, before realizing the express card site doesn't have a firmware for download yet since it only came out after firmware 1.23 was released.  so now I can't go back to express card firmware.  anyway, they're all the same.

I would keep the r4 if you can afford it.  I kept my m3 simply, and ezv.  if i just wanna quickly throw a rom on it to test out, its convenient.  then if it's a "keeper" i can put it on the express card.

h8uthemost

You gonna be using that Express Card as your default flash card now?

And wow, that 16G Express Card is only $41.99. The 16G DS-Linker is $82.00, at RHS. Have you tried out PoR on it yet? Does it run perfectly? And does it have different save options for each game? Like Eeprom 4mbit, 2mbit, etc.

yeah, PoR works perfectly. tried to crash it, but it works perfectly.  all "problem" games work perfectly. even ultimate spiderman. lol.

I noticed that after filling about 1 GB (8Gb) of the nand flash, the boot up is slightly slower, when it says "detecting FAT"... but overall, i'm very happy with it.  I like the price.  $50++ shipped for 2GB is a good deal.  and it seems that it has 100% compatibility.

I dont like the 3d icons that much, but I did change the background image, which helps visibility.  I used the Ultra Flashpass EX pack to change the background, since Express Card doesn't have much software for download yet.

h8uthemost

That's cool. It sounds like the card is just as good as the DS-Linker, or UFPEX. I was just playing PoR on my 8G DS-Linker, and I was doing everything to crash PoR too. It just will not crash.

So I think I'm going to go ahead and trade my R4 for a 16G. I mean why not, it has 2Gb of space, and the games run perfectly. I just wish it had soft reset.

Have you tried the UFPEX Passme download on it yet?

Hi

Okay, I realise that this is offtopic a bit (And I started the tread, LOL.)

Well, I just figured out that "a flash card that can mimic a real card" = "a 1:1 card." I'm correct about this, right?

And, if I am, than was the nds 1:1 a 1:1 card if you get my meaning.

Yes, I KNOW that the nds 1:1 was a terrible card. But all the same... well, I'm interested in this stuff.

If the nds 1:1 was a 1:1 card, than why did it need updates? (the lack of updates was this card's problem right?)

I only think that the 1:1 part for that product was the size.
