hi, i've bought several r4's since they come out and i see they are shipping only white shells.

is that the same for simply? i mean the r4 has lost it due to cost effectiveness but the m3 is dearer anyway...

so do you still get both shells?

I bought an R4DS about a week ago (love it!) and it came with the white shell, a microSD card reader (very slow), a keychain flashlight (very bright) and a utilities disk (never looked at it).  No black shell.

I got an R4 a month or so ago, and it came with the black shell but no keychain flashlight. Rather have the black shell though, of course, being that I have a black NDSL.

M3 comes with a black shell and is the same price i think, if you buy it from RHS

yes, it is the same for the m3 simply. you only get 1 color shell now.

Basically the default R4 shell is white and the default M3 shell is black. Earlier models of both shipped with an extra case of the opposite's color, now they are set with only 1 case.

The manufacture announced that all newer and upcoming batches of the R4DS/M3 Simply WON'T be shipping with a second case, due to the fact they want to save production time (and cost). So don't be surprised if you don't see a shell replacement case when you bought either card.
