as team viper is taking ages to get their chip out, afaik (correct me if i'm wonrg), i'll go ahead and go for the wiikey. one thing i have been asking myself though - is there a need for a special dvd-burner to burn the backups? there's obviously just a small number of drives that are able to read your original wii-games, but is there any trouble with burning them? thanks.

No problems with the burners, just make sure you don't use cheap DVD's and burn at about 4x. I use Verbatim DVD-R and burned at 4x with no DRE's at all during game play.
