Backing up saves (GBA Cart->Slot 1) can it be done?

Is there a utility that will let me backup the save from a genuine GBA cart to a slot-1 device (specifically, DS-Link)? Some of the carts I bought off eBay seem to be a little flakey with saving, probably knock-offs or something :(

Tepples is currently working on a program like that, sort of like a reverse version of REIN.  However, as of right now, it doesn't work.

Do you have a slot-2 device with GBA compatibility that doesn't reset the DS when you reinsert it?

Well I tried removing my Supercard Mini-SD and reinserting it while it was on the file browser... and it didn't reset. Though I wasn't able to run anything after doing this.

I assume there's some kind of hot-swapping save utility?

Indeed, if your Supercard doesn't reset, then you'll be able to use Chishm's tool.  It's available at http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/SendSave/index.html#cart_save and is called "GBA Game Save Backup Utility" and runs in GBA mode.

Download the cart_save.gba file and run it.  It will ask you whether you want to read or write, so select Read.  When it prompts you to, swap out the Supercard for the game in question.  Follow the directions to read the save file, reinserting the Supercard when it tells you to, and select a file to store the .sav file in.  I've heard it sometimes works better if you save it within a folder, not on the root directory, though I'm not sure about that.

My Supercard resets upon reinsertion, so I was only able to successfully use this tool once, and therefore I have little personal experience with it.  It did work perfectly that one time though.

Damnit, mine freezes after reinsertion, when it says 'press a to save'

Any Idea why it worked once...

Common, this could be a breakthrough or something...

I mentioned it before in another thread I think, but basically you have to push the right side in first and go really slowly.  It doesn't work all the time, so I tried it a few times with this program until I finally got it to work correctly.

As for why it freezes, I have no idea.  =/
