Sorry if this has been answered before, but I am having bad skipping issues during movies which somehow seems to throw off the surround sound in Call of Duty 3. I thought the Wiikey did not suffer from this issue and I've tried all of the settings I could think of but the problem is still there.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or could this be a bad burn?

from experience in many different types of media burning try a better brand of media and burn slower  :)

skipping often happens in most console games and dvd video disks due to a) poor media dye quality or b) burning too fast  :(

if its dvds that you are using I recommend RITEK G05 as a good dvd media or Taiyo Yuden :)

Shinster

Make sure you burn on a high quality DVD-R and burn on 2X speed. That should do the trick.
DS Lite Onyx Black
Supercard Lite
Nintendo Wii (US)
PSP (Metal Gear PO Limited Edition)

I'm using some Verbatim DVD-Rs so I figured they'd be fine. Burned at x4 speed though  :(

Thanks for the tips!

Its really down to the DYE quality on the disk at the end of the day rather than the actual dvdr ..... its a common misconception that paying over the top for brand names such as SONY,JVC ETC and expecting good quality results that people often fall foul of with big names choosing to buy the media in and rebadge poor quality (eg CMC which are about the worst dye you can get) as their own HI-GRADE medias  :(

I pay £17 GBP ( just 17 pence per disk) for 100 ritek G05 dye printables   :)

use DVDR IDENTIFIER (google it :) ) to check what dye is on your disks that you use  :)

I've used/burned thousands of RITEK G05 dye media and know 100's of other users of RITEK media too with excellent results that also swear by them  :D

but as above too Taiyo Yuden also have good results  :)

my rule of the thumb is ... find a good reliable media and STICK WITH IT  :)

subnote:- do not confuse RIDATA for genuine RITEK they are totally different medias and dyes RIDATA is produced by RITEK but are SUBSTANDARD    C sometimes D grade medias

Actually, I think it could be a problem with the backup itself...the intro movies (logos and stuff) don't suffer from this problem, nor do the pre-rendered first person perspective ones, only the ones with narration.

But even if the game doesn't play one of those movies, the surround sound is still messed up. It works, but some sounds are reversed and it's ridiculously hard to tell where shots are coming from...

Oh well, it's just one game.

I have purchased Ridata discs that were analyzed as Ritek G05 dye.  so ridata are not always substandard.

I guess you are one of the lucky few that have actually got genuine dye with ridata :)

Altor

Is there some measurement of what discs are high quality vs low quality?

I found that Maxell is a good brand... my DIVX player can read them more easily than, say, memorex.  And I assume Sony would be top-notch.

yeah you can use Nero CD-DVD Speed :)

this will give you results in table form of how the disk performs  :)

but as above find a good one and stick with it  :)
