does anyone know if this is true or not? personally i think its just a rumor and theyre not going to make it but on the other hand they might, after all ds had a redesign(ds lite) and so did the ps2 (slimline ps2) so who knows? if they do its a good way for sales to people who didnt buy one when it first released since it comes with a 120gb harddrive for $479

it's pretty likely that it's true.  With more than one report of a new xbox 360 SKU and retail chains, and other reports from xbox developers and supposed insiders.

looks like a "limited edition" elite version will be released.. but after some time, the elite version specs will become the specs of the premium edition xbox 360.  65nm chip design is money saving, and power saving.  

I just hope the 120GB HDD support will enable me to use the existing hacks for WD 2.5" HDDs, to let my 360 access all 120GBs, rather than the current limit of 20GB.

Well that kind of sucks, I think. I wish I would have known this before I bought my 360 last May. And I really, really, like the black. I"ve only heard of this a couple times recently, so this is all kind of new to me.

Besides the 120GB HHD, what else is going to be new on this? So now, there are three versions of the 360?

Oh well, if I really want one, I'll want a couple years, for the price to get around $200. There's no way I'm paying another $400(or whatever the price is going to be).

They are trying to feed off people that would otherwise buy ps3 but the 600$ price tag is a turn off especially with the 9% tax in my state.

my thoughts EXACTLY.  well, almost.

They are just approaching a different (slightly) market.  That's all.  The people who have yet to adopt a next-gen (or is it current-gen now?) console, and will be comparing features.  

PS3 has HDMI and a 60GB hard drive
microsoft says "hey, you can get a 120GB Hard drive and HDMI for less money!"

what they don't tell you is that the PS3 is hard-drive upgradeable right out of the box.  Sony has no problems with users wanting to put their own larger capacity 2.5" drives in the PS3.  

I am personally unhappy with 20GB on my xbox 360 (especially since final fantasy xi takes so much space, and i like to download HD movies), but not unhappy enough to upgrade to the "elite" version.  my tv only has one HDMI port, and I don't want to buy some kind of expensive HDMI switch or distributor, so I'll stick to component for the 360.

Now that the wii has come out at half the price, with just as good graphics, and a special controller, why are many people still buying the 360?

the graphics aren't as good.........and it doesn't have hdmi support.  And the wii truthfully as of now is doing what it was advertised to do, be really fun when you have friends over.  But besides Zelda there isn't much 1 player action going on right now and you can't play multiplayer without that annoying friend code system.
