You should maybe try IGN or Gamespot, and browse the 64 games. You can read all the reviews while you're at. I think that would be your best, seeing as only you can really pick out what you think would be fun, and appropriate.

your're not that old right?  Why can't you enjoy exploring I mean it looks like you don't even like to play supermario 64.  You have the time to move around and look unlike some of us older people who have a lot more work on our hands.  And isn't the point of 3-D so that you can do more exploring instead of just going back and forth.  Stop being blinded by your ignorance and TRY SOMETHING NEW.

And learn to spell........

The above skills will help you succeed in life and become a better person trust me.

And if you really want linear just go play gameboy advance games then seriously, they will mostly all be 2-d things which will be linear.

Edit:fixed so the poster below doesn't complain more :D.

Just for the sake of humor, I must go upon this.  Please don't take it personally.  Ignoring some grammar mistakes for now, and attempting to insert punctuation and capitalization when appropriate...

and if you really want linear just go play gba games then. seriously, they will mostly all be 2-d things which will be linear.

But yeah, GBA games are more likely to be linear, though less likely to be 3D.  Still, some of them are highly enjoyable, like Rayman Advance.  Though it was one of the first games released for the GBA, it remains one of the most visually vibrant ones, and it's simple enough that most people can just pick it up and play it instantly.

yea........ I'm just telling him too.  Disregard my spelling since I'm totally dead from Washington's assessment of student learning today.  That plus a.p. chemistry is not a good combination.  I miss my firefox spell check right now :(.  (my computer isn't working right now)

I'd still like a reason why you can't play... like... normal games. Do they scare you or something? Are your parents religious? What?
Setup: Onyx DS Lite, CycloDS + Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC; Camo GBA Micro, EZIV + Kingston 2GB MicroSD

Hi

iignotous, not only is my immidiate family not very religous, we are incredibly unrealgious. We don't believe in god. (I REALLY don't think, that saying that will offend anyone hear, will it? Please, not intended to)

2-d games are great, but there, well 2-D. It's fun to be able to do some platforming where you have to consentrate on not only up, down, left, and right, but forwards and backwards also.

A 3-d game CAN be linar however. For example, is a hallway with only doors at the beggining and end of the hallway linar? Yes! And is the hallway still a 3-d hallway? Yes! Just trying pass a point.

I enjoyed super mario 64 ds, though it wasn't as linar as I would have liked. I would very much have preferred linar, but it was still a fun game. So was rayman ds. But had super mario 64 ds been any less linar than it is, I would have not enjoyed it. I enjoy somewhat non-linar games, but I LOVE very linar ones. (2-d linar is nothing special. I'm talking about 3-d linar here.)

Hi, have you ever attempted Megamanzero2 for the gba?  Try and beat the first level, I dare you.  You have obviously not dipped into the hard linear 2-d games out there.

The point of 3-d was not to create a linear game to just go straight through.  The point of adding the ability to go left, right, up, down, and back, was so that you could explore more and opened up much more for a game instead of just going all the way through.  A hallway doens't seem like an interesting part of a 3-d game.

Just broaden your horizen with games and you will find theres alot more out there.  By going 3-d and linear you understand there are almost no titles like this that are fun.

I don't know why. but this topic seriously annoys me.

Look... very few n64 platformers are considered LINEAR. Not LINAR. Donald Duck Quack Attack is one. Blues Brothers 2000 is another. Rugrats in paris and Toy story 2 would be good bets as they're obviously made for kids who don't really buy into any sense of difficult exploration..

The gex games would be advisable also. And Scooby Doo, classic creep capers.

You may also enjoy the goemon games, duck dodgers and the chameleon twist games. But then again, I never really enjoyed any of those.

OKAY.

Topic closed. Goal Achieved. I seriously don't want to see this subject on the main page again. EVER.

Ok it's not N64 but my Favourite ever linear platformer has to be Castle of Illusion on the Megadrive / Genesis, simply blew me away at the time (pre-sonic the hedgehog - and yes it's better than sonic), very nice.

Even the Sega Master System and Gamegear versions are good, not as good but good, however Wonderboy 3 on the master system is good too but not really linear, wonder boy 2 - monsterland was linear.

Also try on the amiga, James Pond RoboCod.

the wonderboy series and castle of illusion. I did think monsterworld was better than monsterland 3
