Am i better off buying an EZ5 combo pack with EZ5 3-in-1 or buying R4 and EZ5 3-in-1 separate? Right now this is what i'm trying to decide upon and it's prety much one of those two as my only other option is a g6, but not unless the latter drops in price somwhat.

I mean, i'm familiar with the m3 software, but if the EZ5 would work better with the expansion pack and it's not hard to setup i might consider it. But since cory is still working on better support for R4 with 3-in-1.

I really like EZV more than R4 (i have both).  not for the interface ( it is ugly) but because of the performance of pre-patched roms.

I would go with the EZV combo.  Actually, I use the EZV (or UFP EX 16Gb) with a G6lite in slot-2 for my combo.. but you mentioned the g6 is still to highly priced...

i gave my m3 DS simply to my wife, because she needed a clean simple interface for slot-1.

Yea i don't need a clean simple interface, if there is good instructions for setup for the particulr software. It's just nice.

I have no experience with EZV so I am no help what so ever here, but i can not fault the R4 on anything, it really does seem to do everything flawlessly, except gba and opera, which is why I have a 3 in 1 on the way. Until then I can't comment on that either lol, but as far as slot 1 devices, are can't see how you could get better than the R4!

64 PORTS 4EVER!!!!!

Well...one R4DS and one for EZV...doesn't help me decide much >_>.

But i think i might get the EZV unless someone has anything else to say, and once i get confirmation from RHS about where their microSDs were manufactured.

Hi

Shouldn't this be in the "Other Flashcarts" section?

The only thing that I would consider an EZ5 over an R4 would be if it has flawless download play.  The R4 plays 100% roms, only slowing down on 2 games (wow) and half of that is download play compatible and I'd say 90% multi cart compatible, and probably 99% or even 100% wifi....  Great cart!

well considering i do plan to use download play since i have some friends...

Anyway i decided to get EZV. The only real thing i wish is that the microSD loader was on top, not side so i wouldn't have to take out my card all the time. Oh well.

The EZ5 also has the ability to patch games so that they work at speed on slow microSD cards. Does the R4 do this?

i would say that multicard play works on ALL flashcarts... ....

for download play, i dont think the EZ flash V has 100% compatibility.... i dont think ANY cart has 100% for download-play...

Read my reviews!  :)  www.dsdatabase.org

Right now, I am fiddling with the EZ Flash V and the EZ Flash 3 in 1, which I just got from ModMyDS.com.  Personally, if placed side by side, I'd choose the R4 by a small margin.  However, when paired up with the 3 in 1, the EZ Flash V performs way better.  The R4 is missing rumble, the GBA is still somewhat buggy.

If you are getting a single slot 1 card, then get the R4.  If you need a slot 1 card to pair up with your 3 in 1, get the EZ Flash V.

if you chose the R4, you'd still have to take out the R4 to eject the MicroSD.. heh

I wouldn't want the slot on the back. I'd be afraid it would fall out and with the size of those things I'd never notice it fell out until it was ground into pieces on the carpet.

Umm no you don't, I remove my microsd w/o taking it out all the time...  I don't think I've ever removed it from my DS Lite except when I bricked it ;)

And the microsd is spring loaded like the DS Slot so no chance of it falling out.

Never tried the EZ5, but I'm sure it is a good flashcart.  Just pointing out my good experiences with the R4.

And, I have heard that the R4 doesn't work multicart with like new super mario bros. not sure if it is true or not..

I remove the MicroSD without taking out my R4 too...
