I'm working on an R4 FAQ ...

Your input is appreciated - even if it is just more information in an existing area or some information I may have incorrect.

Thanks guys ...

You can look at my Nintendo DS Hacking FAQ for more information on Trimming - discusses it pretty well I think.

The size of the memory card was covered.

Patching an emu might be better in the Hacking FAQ.

Thanks for the info!

Why don't you just come out and say ROM? It is much more clear that way.

Also, download play works for some games and not for others. If it doesn't work, flashing the receiving system wouldn't make it work either. A weird R4 only problem.

I know that Nintendo sweeps the web periodically for warez sites - and while I'm not in violation of any copyright laws, the last thing I want to do is be a blip on the Nintendo radar.  I already know there are a couple of Nintendo employees registered on my forums (just as there are probably several here too).

Actually, I've done field work on the "DS Download" issue.  I can't explain WHY, but I've seen actual evidence that the flashme installed on a DS CAN affect a communication between two DSes for DS Download play.

The DS Download problem isn't limited to the R4.  My research shows that whether DS Download works or not is dependant on an RSA security check on the guest DS.  When you're running a rom image from a flash cart, this signature isn't available to the guest DS during the transmission and the security check fails.  Another reason to hope for Multi-Card play in your upcoming favorite games :)

FlashMe removes the RSA signature check for Download Play, which is why it has an effect on the success rate.  If the receiving DS is flashed, it should accept the image no matter what device the host is transmitting from.

You would think so, right?  Two flashed DSes should have NO problem playing a single card play game - yet they do.

I'm not really sure what the problem is then, as I never use the Download Play feature at all.  At least FlashMe does partially affect it.

I'll do some experimentation .. I'll noflashme one of my DSes and try the R4 in it :)
