First of all, I must say I'm beginning to be tempt by the wii. I was ignoring the new-gen console but I think my shield is slowly broking with all the new games appearing on it.

So I was wondering, how work Wii's hacking system and how simple is it to make it work ?

With my playstation 1, it was simple, just needed to burn the game on a CD-R and everything went fine. Though with the Wii, I guess it'll be those small funky DVD they had for the Gamecube...

So huh, just need a small explanation on the matter to see my options!
Thanks guys ( and non-guys)

First, you need to get a modchip(I think you know that)
and, you burn the games on big, regular DVD discs.

yust like sash told you its like kinda easy

I advice you the wiikey modchip, works fine and can play all your backups.
you yust burn the games on a 4,7gb normal dvd.. i use dvd+r, works fine for me.

check the website to see what games work on your console (NTSC-U,PAL,NTSC-J)

Hi,
I too am interested in getting my pal Wii chipped mainly to play imports.
What I am interested to know is what needs to be done to get NTSC games working on a pal machine.
QuotePartial support for NTSC region Wii games/backups on PAL consoles
Boots different region GC games/backups (partially without swapping)

When it says partial support is this direct boot or does a swap need to be made?
Do import games need to be patched and thus also need to be ripped and burned.

Thanks for any replies

No patching needed, the patching is done on the fly by the mod chip.

He is thinking the 1.2 "base" DVD is a firmware update, but it is not.

All the versions of wiikey setup discs have teh region lock/unlock feature. version 1.0 is the same as 1.1. The only difference is the button interface, 1.0 uses a GC controller and 1.1 uses the wiimote.

More features with 1.2, it has the sd dump feature along with mfe and gcos abilities (that are thru the gc portion of the wii).

So, wait, you don't need to run foreign games through a region patcher? I've been running my games through WiigionFree.
