Quote from: "moviecouple"So I ordered the Superpass and it should be here in a few days. Should I forget about the Flashme and just use the Superpass instead. Seems like it is much more compatible than the Flashme.

I really don't care if the Superpass is bulky. I generally never take the DS out of the house... because it is already a brick in itself.

It's not really "much" more compatible. There are only 1 or 2 games that won't boot without it, and only another game or two that has glitches. For the most part, I'm going to use my super pass (mainly cause I play Lost in Blue a lot and it'd be a pain to switch it in and out just so I could play this game) but if I go out I'll probably just leave it behind and stick with flashme since it looks nicer and without the bulky super pass I can keep it in my pocket easier.

Really, if for nothing else, you should install Flashme for protective measures. If you accidently load up a malware rom that deletes your firmware, if you have flashme installed you will be able to recover it.

So could you give me your take on how to do the Flashme. In the tutorial... it is kinda vague about what you do with the paperclip/screwdriver.

Koji

Sure. Under the battery case there is a little spot that's covered by a pink and white patterned sticker (there is pictures of it on that site) The sticker is very easy to remove, just use the paper clip to poke a hole and lift it up, or use it to move it around the edge.

Inside the hole is a little circle spot that's split in half vertically. All you are doing it putting the paper clip so it's touching both halves when the flashme asks for it, effectively shorting them.

If you are like me when you do it, you may have a hard time holding it in place, if it accidentally slips out of place, it will stop installing. But don't worry too much, you just have to put the paper clip back into position and it will continue right where it left off.

Absolutely do not turn it off till the installation is complete.

Hope that helps.

Thanks... that seems easier now than what was in the tutorial.

hmm.. I have a quick question:
With the Passme, when I want to play GBA games, do both screens stay lit? or does it only use the screen you've selected for the gba? thank you.

I read a few posts about the objects people used for shorting, such as paper clips, a filed down small nail head and various size screw drivers. I was looking around the house for something skinny enough and flat enough and came across a set of drill bits that I had and rarely use. When i turned one of my small bits around to the end that goes into the drill, it was a perfect fit. The backside of a drill bit is round and the edge is flat. I flashed my system in less than a minute and never had to wiggle the bit or anything other than sticking it in there and letting the percentage bar fly. I hope someone finds this helpful, because it worked great for me and I'm sure it will for others. I used a silver iron bit, I had some black colored bits but used a silver one instead because I was uncertain about the conductivity of it.

What was I thinking? there wasn't a percentage bar, just a percentage from 1-100% haha sorry about that!

when i flashed my DS it got stuck at 1% for quite a while... I almost had a minor hard attack...

But after staying at 1% for a while it continued and it was FAST...
