Yet another saving problem

Hey, guys

I know you guys probably get this a lot, but I'm in desperate need of some help.

Well, the problem is that I cant get my games to save!! Almost all of the games won't save. The only ones that do save is Mario Kart (which, had a corrupted save file in the beginning, yet fixed it self some how and works fine) and Pokemon Diamond, although pokemon sometimes doesn't save and sometimes does. What's up with that?!

Well, I have already been looking through this forum and some others trying to solve my problems, yet i have never found one that helped me out. I have even tried some hypothesis that i have come up with yet, nothing works. (btw, its a real pain to test whether it has saved because of the SDRAM thing)

Anyway, here's my stats:

Supercard OS V2.0SP1
DS Lite Onyx (i dont think that has anything to do with it, i just like to brag :D)
I have tried both Saver size 512K and 2M;4M
It has been formated to FAT16
Kingston 1MB microSD (yes, i does say JAPAN on it)
uhh... well i think thats it

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Welcome to SCdev.org! If you are using the latest SCDS 2.0 software then you shouldn't need to set the save sizes, except for a few game that have been released in the last few weeks. For those few games selecting 4M save size should work when in doubt. One way to find the exact size of a game save is to look at DjoeN's list . . .

Also, make sure to leave some room on your microSD for Supercard to write the actual game saves. SCDS should work fine with a Kingston (Japan).

Well, the individual save sizes have already been set, yet doesn't work. I have tried clicking change save size (and saved it) on the card. Yet whenever the card starts back up again it changes back to the original save size it was at before. So, I have never been able to test to see if changing save size works.

When, i was talking about saver size I was talking about the saver option on the top left corner of the menu you can set (edited the global.ini to make 2M/4M to start on startup instead of 512K, thought it would fix it but didn't). Is there a difference between that and the save size on each game?

And how much room should i leave on the microSD? I have about 130MB free right now.

Remember SCDS1 keeps a copy of the last game you played in battery backed RAM.  Try loading a different game first then delete the save file for the game you are having problems with. Next time you run the problem game select 4M and SCDS1 should create a new save file.

If you still have problems try reformatting your microSD and starting from scratch. SCDS1 supports FAT32 BTW. Most game should work fine without configuring anything,  including Mario Kart. You might have a defective card that you need to exchange?

good advice.

Man there has been a massive influx of save issues with the SCDS1 and new user. We should start a new user help thread (FAQ) with one of us to update it.

Well I have reformatted my card to FAT32 instead. And tested it out extensively, yet no luck. The only game that still is able to save so far is mario kart.

My friend also has a supercard one, and his saving works fine. He says that he can see the .sav files on the microSD with the games yet mine doesn't. I have heard about not being able to see the .sav files before yet i have never got a real reason on how to fix it.
