Is it under a year old?  If it isn't you really shouldn't get it replaced for free

the truth.

if it broke and you're not at fault, then you shouldn't really be doing all this. just say what hapenned, that it wasn't your fault and just be damned persistant. ask to speak to their manager and make a damn fuss.

failing that, i've heard people got returns because of cracked hinges and dead pixels.

If its less than 1 year old tell them you know your CONSUMER RIGHTS that you are entitled to a replacement as you are within your warrenty as stated by the manufacturers gurantee (nintendo's)

Its your LEGAL right to have this exchange :)

You just need to convince them its really got a fault and your not happy with their customer service that they are trying to mess you about with an exchange :)

Just tell them its intermittent your in the middle of a game  ( a real game one that came with it or sumthing) and it freezes and crashes but yet works fine on your friends ds or family members ds with no issues whatsoever and its fustrating you paid all that money for their console and its gone faulty in however long the period you have had it and your dissapointed that they are messing you about trying to get your ds replaced under its warrenty period  ;)

You must be direct with them and be firm with them dont accept anything but an exchange if the first person you spoke to cannot help you and offer the exchange (free of charge) then demand to speak to someone thats incharge of them  (ie their manager or line manager or boss) explain to them you have looked into your customer rights and the warrenty details and you are well within your rights to get it exchanged under the SALE OF GOODS ACT :)

let us know how you get on :)

Yes, If you are still under warranty then you dont have to trick them you are entitled to a free replacement.

I gotta return my new Black DS Lite too, but it is a real problem.  The L button, as kkan likes to say "intermittently" doesn't work.  Which is super annoying in Mario Kart.

If you really want to mess it up, just screw up a flashme installation and say that your fuse is blown or something.

Vapourstreak

Should I do PharoahsViziers thing?

[EDIT] Spelled Pharoahs wrong.  sry :?

PharaohsVizier

Well there are tons of ways to mess them up, this being the least safe.  You can crack your L hinge thing yourself with a hammer.  The best way I've ever heard of is to open up the DS and pull the ribbon cable connecting the screens.  You get a flickering effect or just blank screens.  They'll return it for sure.  And worst case scenario, they don't return it, and you just plug it back in.

I'm not suggesting that you should do any of these, because they are really dirty tricks.  But I just like mentioning them because I have been seeing threads like these forever, and there were some really good ideas.  :)
