I answered earlier but since the post has been moved my reply got lost !?

try to use COMICBOOK DS if it has images and not just plain text ...

comicbook ds here

if its just text, theres something called readmore alpha i think, which is a homebrew that allows txts to be read with the DS turned sideways like brain age.

I was wondering what comicDS converter actually converts? jpgs, bmp? So do people just like scan their comics to get them on the DS?
Wanna wifi? PM me and get my wifi codes here:

The ComicBookDS converter converts any image files it can understand, and it also converts images that are in *.rar and *.zip archives, and also those in *.cbr or *.cbz formats, which are just renamed RAR and ZIP archives.  Mostly useful for comics and mangas.

For text only, there are several options.  There's Moonshell and DSorganize, plus the ReadMore Alpha demo.  In addition, just a few hours ago the GBAX competition released the entries that were made, one of which is DSReader.  If you use this, CREATE A FOLDER CALLED "DSReader" FIRST!  I just had to copy and paste everything from my backups because it created the folder itself and corrupted my card.  Afterwards though, it's an awesome reader, as it allows you to use *.ttf fonts like the ones Windows uses.  Just copy and paste them from "C:\Windows\Fonts" (make sure you copy and paste, not move) and then load a few in DSReader and see how they work.  Works pretty well actually.

Thanks for the reply everyone.

Wow! you can read comics in ds also? Cool!!! Hmmm....

I have moonshell on my R4 but I don't know how to use it. I tried "drag and drop"-ing the e-book like a nds game but it does not work... do I need to change the file format? How?

If the ebook is not in .txt format, you'll need to find a way to get it as such in order for Moonshell to be able to understand it.  Otherwise, find a way to export it as a series of JPEGs and use Comic Book DS to convert them and read them.

hi kkan,

I tried to load comics in my DS using R4... It would just say that fat not supported... I read the page about how to patch it... But I'm confuse which patching tool to use? I destroyed my Supercard before and I'm scared this might destroy my R4 too... Is this safe for a newbie to do? And I'm not a techie person...  :-[

kkan

patch it with the R4 DLDI patch get it here before putting it on your card :)

and then it should work fine  :)

theres tools on this forum for applying DLDI patches :)

ok just thought of something  ...before you start patching ..which NDS file are you using ... you should only be using the one labelled ComicBookDS.nds  try just using that file on its own on your card :)

note put that file and this folder ComicBookDSTheme and its contents on your card and try it see if it works  :)

if not post back and I will upload my nds file for you to try :)

Yes, I'm using the ComicBooksDS.nds... But when I open it, it will just say Fat not supported.... I'm trying to open GrimTales_high.cbds downloaded from above link... What could be wrong?

If you have v1.10 kernel then it should auto patch it for DLDI :)

if not patch the comicbookds.nds file with the above DLDI file :)

dont patch the books

w00t, people actually use the comic book I submitted!  Shame that Bleedman put the comic on hiatus though.

Anyway, I've heard several reports of a few homebrew files not working with the autopatcher, and that manually patching with a tool like DLDIrc fixes the problem.  So follow what kkan said and manually patch.
