Super Mode: Support RESET, cheat code, save to flash memory card directly.

Does that mean to save a game(.sav) onto microSD we need the ROM to go through patcher? or will it save w/o soft reset if we decide not to use the patcher(software).

Anyone please clear this up a bit.

Also, how do the other drag n' drop Slot-1 cards work in regards to saving.

Thankx

well just ordered mine (£27 @ bamboogaming) im gonna look for a fast 1GB card now is there anything faster than a SanDisk Ultra II
ive never looked in to micro sd card before & they seem the fastest

Hi

A thought just crossed my mind...

What if I first used the scds software to patch soft-reset to one of my roms and then flashed the rom to a slot-1 card that didn't support soft-reset. (The card I had in mind was the N-card)

Could someone who ownes a slot-1 card that doesn't support soft-reset please test this out?

From what I've read in the release notes, and from seeing the screen shots of the chinese menu, I believe that if you don't patch the roms (in other words, if you don't run them in "super mode"), they save to some kind of internal eeprom on the supercard DS (and likely are backed up to the microSD upon reboot).  That's what it sounds like anyway.

Quote from: "zektor"Is it not good enough that this is a device that INCLUDES nopass code, takes removable media, and is a slot1 device made by the team that has proven itself to supply constant updates and a pretty solid DS compatibility rate? I think it'll be a hit personally.
I agree.

Maybe I posted the wrong thread - If it wasn't in that one, there's a thread somewhere (probably on gbatemp) with people with high postcounts (so... somewhat reliable, maybe) claiming to have difficulty with:

Saving certain save sizes
Running certain sizes of game
Save file corruption (as a result of #1 I'd guess)
Games requiring patching
Other games not working unless unpatched

I'm not against SC, don't get me wrong.  I love this stuff.  I hope that these individuals were reporting on pre-release samples or something, but I don't think they were marked as moderators or anything.

Finally, we all know that "100% compatibility!" is never the case, even with the most high-end cards like DS-X.  I realize that Chinese consumer protection laws are probably a lot less strict (if they exist at all), but it still erks me when such blatantly, knowingly incorrect things are posted.  Shouldn't online stores, like RHS, check to see if there's any verification of a manufacturer's claims before reporting it as gospel?  Or, at the very least, specifically say "Manufacturer's Descripton:"?

sneef

no, we all know RHS and other online retailers just post the manufacturer's claims and specs, so it's not really an issue.

onekelly

well it looks like we will have quite a few reviews from gbatemp.net in a short while.

More GBAtemp Reviews coming!
New slot-1 solutions

With all the new slot-1 solutions announced recently, did you really think we would let you down? 'Course not! As always, GBAtemp will provide reviews for the newly released flash kits. Check out the list of reviews that are in the works:

  • Ninjapass X9: received, currently doing tests.
  • eWin 2 Lite: slot 2. Received, currently doing tests
  • R4: units sent, we're waiting to receive them.
  • M3 DS Simply: agreement found with the M3 team for two units. Will be sent soon.
  • Supercard DS(ONE): agreement found with the SC team for two units. Will be sent soon.
  • MicroNinja: agreement found with the Ninja team for two units. Sending date unknown.
As you can see and imagine, we dedicate a large part of our time to finding agreements with the teams in order to be sent their products. We are currently negociating with different teams to receive EZ-V, Media Gamer, DSLinker and Datel CCK units. All right, last but not least: remember our Supercard vs M3 comparison review,  back in the time when slot-2 were the only available solutions? Well I'm happy to announce that we will write a Slot-1 Supercard vs M3 comparison review as soon as we receive both units!

Stay tuned!

So this will help with many persons decisions on which card to purchase.

Please, read them and make up your own opinion.

If you want this on another thread by itself let me know.

The OS will auto create a save file. it will be auto save upon reboot

Once the reviews go up, I'll make my decision :)

Can the SuperCard DS handle 2gb Microsd cards?
Sports + Video Games = My Life

onekelly

yes, at least it implies that in there flyer on their site

SynGamer

I picked up the 1 GB Kingston microSD just to be safe.  That should hold a few GBA games, no clue about DS games...never tired it.  My big hope is that with my SuperCard SD i can use it as a RAM pack and finally use the Opera Browser.  Other than that, a built in MP3 player is all i need and i believe that is actually built in to the SuperCard DS :)

Looks like Realhotstuff won't be getting their shipment till tomorrow 12/20 and unless you ship it next day... you won't be getting it till after Christmas. It is not their fault though... gotta give them props for trying to get it to us in time for the holidays.

onekelly

Syngamer, I think the mp3 player is moonshell, but not 100% sure.
