I havent got my supercard lite rumble yet but do I NEED to use the software to put ds roms,homebrew,music and videos? Or can I just drag and drop to the sd card?

Not for most homebrew, no, but DS games require the patching software or they won't run.  Homebrew itself might require DLDI patching instead.

Is it easy to figure out the ds patching? Is it hard to do?

It's fairly straightforward.  Just make sure you grab the updated firmware and patcher software from the Supercard site.  In the patcher, load the game and then double-click on the name to bring up the options.  See the "Usage Guides" section of http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/Supercard for some info regarding what the different options do.  Also use the compatibility lists linked on that site to determine which settings to use for each game.  In general, the default settings should work for most games.
