Hi People

i need help deciding on a slot one solution a G6 Real or a m3 simply.
I know you cant upgrade the memory on a G6 but if the compatibillity for the games is what it says then its worth it i guess

Any reccomendations

thanks in advance...

I think you should wait for the CycloDS Evolution and check it out as well.  Right now, there is a change, the next generation of flash carts are coming out, it would be a bad time to buy something of the last generation (M3 Simply), or risk getting a bad cart from the new generation.

I have an R4 which is the same as the M3 Simply, and the G6DS Real, my first impressions of the G6DS Real are very favorable, it is just that it is missing the DLDI which is supposed to be coming out soon.  Also, most of the features aren't really done yet, but they still have a few days before these carts reach consumers, so they can fix some issues.

like several posts on this forum  and on the advice in a pretty similar thread I made not so long back ...

I opted under the advice of others to get the R4 which is virtually the same as the M3 internally but a much cheaper option and its a FANTASTIC card and cannot fault it for compatibility and ease of use :)

the ability to upgrade the memory with a bigger memory card is an absolute must when you get putting music and videos on that play back with moonshell you soon fill the card up pretty fast  lol :)

G6 is a good card but is way behind in the race with a slot 1 solutions out there already :)

Okay

so the r4 has better compatibillity than the m3 simply?

also does anyone know if www.model-gadget.com is an okay place to buy from?

They are about the same as they are both pretty much the same internal hardware so have about same compatibility levels :)

not heard of model-gadget !?

but can recommend the forum sponsor REAL HOT STUFF and or where i got mine from and other flash cards SHOP01MEDIA both as reliable stockists :)

If you get the R4, I recommend getting it from RealHotStuff. They have it bundled with a 1GB Kingston Japan(a fast microsd card that you need to run a couple games at full speed and without any lockups) for $60. Or you can get the same bundle from DealExtreme for like $45, but depending where you live, you'll be waiting up to a month for your order to arrive. Where all my orders from RHS have always arrived in two days.

Also check out the DS-Linker. It costs a little more, but it's a great cart, and you don't need a specific microsd to run every single game at full speed. But, it writes games considerably slower than the R4, and it has no Soft Reset function. But with the release of the latest firmware, this cart is really becoming a top contender.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the DS Linker, out of all the N-Card clones, it is the most expensive.  Go find sites selling the N-Card for half the price.

Yeah, I wouldn't get it from somewhere that's selling it at eighty bucks. There are sites that selling the DS-Linker for about $60, and the N-Card or Express Card for about $44, for the 16G version. That's a great deal. Depending on shipping of course.

SCDS1 is by far the best solution IMO, especially if you already own a slot 2 Supercard. When it comes to support and features the Supercard team can't be beat. SCDS1 does everything the R4/M3 does and more. The complaining about having to set the save size is retarded. You only have to set it once and you can always choose the largest save size when in doubt (like R4 does by default). If you are the kind of person that needs help turning on a computer then maybe R4, or even DS-linker would be a better choice.

If enabling loads of cheats in games on fly without any slowdown might appeal to you, then... SCDS1>R4/M3S

As for compatability, all the major flash carts are @100%
Yes I'm mad

For simplicity and price, you can't go past the R4/M3DSS.

Is that the second revision of the Supercard DS ONE?  Because I found the first Supercard DS ONE pretty bad, mainly the casing causing major issues with my DS.  Maybe I should try and get ahold of one and review it again.  I'm thinking that my review doesn't do justice to the Supercard DS ONE.

hiddenone

PharaohsVizier I agree. I have reviewed both versions and the device is not as good as the M3/R4 DS or N-Card clones. IMO the only way anyone should use the device is if they have the recommended "super" microSD card. The device can be very hard to manipulate, even for veteran users. And some games require quite a bit of configuration to get working. Similar slot 1 devices like the two I mentioned before are much easier to use and have better performance all-around.

You just can't beat the performance of the R4/M3DS and N-Card clones which function perfectly no matter what type of memory you are utilizing. The SuperCard one has good performance its just other negatives that bring it down such as the shotty save system, annoying cheat system, hard to configure SD speed, weird patch/no patch options that cause problems, and more... Overall the other devices are just a better purchase even if you're a veteran.

Hmmm...now I'm not sure if I want to get one.

I was looking into buying one of these. I took into account Pharaoh's review(since I believe his reviews are some of the most fair, and most accurate around). But in all fairness...that review is for the first SC1's. I've heard the "revised" ones are a lot better. But I haven't seen any reviews on it.

I wanted to get one just to get. But if it's really not all that, I'm not sure if I want to waste the money.

There are so many conflicting opinions about this cart.

I've used both, I haven't found anything which made me think one card was a real bum purchase.

The SCDS One is more configurable - sometimes it needs it, but other things are nice to have if you want to play, if you like moonshell then you're in luck - it's the gui.

this means you can play videos etc straight from the gui, without booting anything else.

the sc does old dos 8.1 filenames for new saves, you can rename them to the same name as the rom, if the save is in the SC's list then the save is the correct size, otherwise you change it manually - which may prove to be a real benefit in the future..

plus if you have an old SC it can be used as an opera ram pack - no patching, and play gba games by loading them into the ram of the old sc, unfortunately there's no save at present and the old speed issues remain on GBA.

The M3 Simply / R4 doesn't have these options yet played everything I threw at it, it is skinnable but moonshell isn;t the gui which if you don't like moonshell is a benefit, navigating roms seemed quicker than SCDSOne.

M3 doesn't do dos8.1 save game names - they match the file but they're always defaulted to 512kb which takes a little more space.

with both carts I used the same kingston japanese 1gb micro sd and had no-issues with speed problem games (Castlevania portrait of ruin), I formatted inbetween but used the same clean roms.

Both are great simple to use cards, it's down to personal preference, maybe in the future the DSONE's option to select save size will be necessary, and mean you don't need to wait for an OS update which I'm sure would be implemented on the M3 should the need arise.

I like my DSOne (V1), but the M3 did feel nicer case wise.
