Hi guys.  Newly registered but not new to the scene.  I've actually been lurking here for ages and this site is incredibly informative.

Just wanted to let you know that I needed to go back and upgrade the firmware on an SC Lite microSD to do some testing on cheats, and this thread was very helpful in letting me know how to accomplish it without breaking my emulators.  My emulators were busted after an upgrade from 1.7 to 1.81, and I never would have thought I needed to go from 1.7 to 1.8 to 1.81 to fix it.  Especially since SuperCard has taken down 1.8 from their site.  The reason for my post is to address this:

QuoteCan't seem to get it to upgrade from 1.70 to 1.80.  I get this error "It isn't accurate upgrade file.  Please turn of GBA."  I've tried using different UPGRADE.scu files but none seem to work.  Darn

Contradictory to the advice I've seen for other Slot-2 SuperCards, the download from the Chinese site will not work for the SC Lite.  It will cause the above error.  It doesn't matter how many times you format  ;)

The file you need is the upgrade file provided with the original English download.  I've put it on RapidShare if anyone needs it, or if scdev wants to host it:

http://rapidshare.com/files/42771622/SCLite_microSD_1.80_eng.rar.html

This is probably only true for the SC Lite microSD, but I have now successfully upgraded an SC Lite with emulators, so it's worth a try if you're having issues.

Also, on another strange note, if anyone has trouble downgrading from a bricked SC Lite to 1.7 using the bin file, try running it in GBA mode (with the passcard out).

Cheers,
JD

Thank you for the notice.  I've attached the file to the first post.

Hi.  Newbie here.  I'm trying to get around this problem too but I've run into a complication.  Right now I'm at firmware 1.81 and trying to downgrade to 1.7.  However, when I try flashing to 1.7 I get a message that says "Tt is not Enging Version.  Please turn off GBA."  I guess that's supposed to say my firmware is not the English version, but it is English.  I can't figure it out.  :'(

kkan

your downgrade file is not english thats what it means you need to use the english 1.7 firmware to downgrade english firmware based cards   :)

cluelessnewbie

I downloaded it from the English site and the file name is micro_eng_170.bin.  Isn't that the right one?

Hi,

I have firmware 1.81 and when I try to "burn" to 1.70

I received the following message:
--------------------------------------
It is not Enging Version.
Please turn off GBA.
--------------------------------------
And I download "micro_eng_170.bin" from
http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scl.htm

So what is the problem?
Is it possble to come back (version 1.81 --> 1.70) ?

I have SuperCard Lite Slot 2 microSD with 2 GB.

Thanks !

The procedures worked like a charm for me on my sc sd and sclite. I had already dl'd the sclite 1.80 file from SC, as well as the sc sd, but when the sc sd was thought to be bad i deleted it and could not recover it with ontrack recovery pro. :(

I mostly do not play the built in emu's but wanted it fixed before I too far away with the versions.

Hi,
No need 1.81-->1.70-->1.80-->1.81

Look here (read all)

http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php?topic=11069.0

I can play nds game not only on my Slot 1 "M3 DS Simply" but now on my 'SuperCard Lite microSD" (using patch).
Oh yeah !

:crazy2:

Yes, you need to go from 1.70-->1.80-->1.81 for the built-in emulators to function.  Going from 1.70-->1.81 doesn't break DS games, but that's not the point of this thread.

One question,I downloaded Dragon Warrior III and when I start it,I get an error:This game can only be playd on Game Boy Color.
Furthermore,I would want to know,if there´s a faq,how to use the built in emulators,because,it´s kinda complicated^^

dantheman

That's very strange.  The latest firmware should be using Goomba Color which should be fine playing GBC games.  That's the type of message I'd expect from the original Goomba emulator that only did GB emulation.

Do other GBC-only games exhibit the same behavior?

Uglymaster

I convertet DQ I and II and DQ Monsters and each one works fine.

should be ok as 1.82 was for rumble series only (unless you have a rumble card) :)
