My nephew somehow broke off half his Ds Lite shell, lol, and im getting him a replacement Shock Case. Anyone ever put one on before and want to install one for me (for a price of course). I was gonna do it my self but looking at the directions it looks like a bitch of a job. Thanks for any help.

i installed one for my phat, and it is still happily working a few months later, however the fact that i live in the uk means that it is probably best to find someone closer, also obviously ive only done it on a phat, lites may be more difficult

ill wait to see if there are any other takers...

Well I took the plunge last night and installed it. Went fairly well until I tried turning it on. When I try to turn it on the bottom screen flashes real quick and then the unit powers off. Thought maybe it was a dead battery but even hooked up to a power supply it does the same thing. Any ideas fellas?

your top screen is not connected fully, check both ends of the ribbon

DeVS

Ugh will tear it back open tonight. Took like 3 hours to install the damn thing, lol.

good luck, and be careful :)

you'l find the problem im sure.. just dont break anything!

everythings a pain in the ass... its not made to be easy... especially on the lite, they had to cram so much stuff into that tiny space.

the phat was easy apart from the hinges, i can replace the bottom screen in around 10 minutes now.. the top screen i dont like doing so much as it is s easy to fill the damn thing up with dust

EDIT:could the ribbon have been damaged when the ds got snapped in half?

DeVS

Naw he snapped off the corner where the led was thankfully not the side where the ribbon cable was.

cool, that means your almost sure to be able to fix it, just make sure you push it in tight, and make sure it doesnt slip out before you close the connector

lemme know how it goes

I had to use a no.7 Tweezer to get the ribbon cables back inside their locking hinges.

Something i hated about the ds phat was that little cable under the big one which i didn't see until taking the top apart for the fifth time.

Well I took it apart and the ribbon cable looked secure but just to be safe I disconnected it and reconnected and got the same problem. I then took off the top screen to check the ribbon cable on that end and all looks good aswell. The ribbon cable does not look cracked or tore so im not sure what the problem is.

My suggestion is to recheck the ribbon connectors again. I know you already did that, but it has to be the ribbons. Try rocking the ribbon ever so slightly in the connector. I've had a similar situation and the problem was the ribbon was not fully seated in the connector. You might find that the ribbon will go another half millimeter inside the connectors. As long as the ribbons are not damaged and fuse F1 and F2 are good then you should be good.

DeVS

Can you post me a pic of where F1 and F2 fuses are located?
