One other question. My Pure White DS arrived and has the NJM 401 serial. Now... what happends when you try to run NDS games on the Supercard with the new firmware?

Koji

Yes, version 5 will work with the new firmware DSes.

sneef

NJM401 is within the 'working range'.  unless it was factory serviced.  If it's the new firmware, and you are trying to run games using superpass or the old passme, you'll get 2 white screens.  Your serial should work, however.

Have you tested?  what are your results?  I'm glad you got your pure white DS!  :o

moviecouple

Good. So... as soon as my Passme2 arrives... I can then upgrade directly to NDS-FW-V4 and skip 4 altogether using the Cory method. Correct?

Now... it looks like I have a Pure White NDS that has the new firmware. When I use the Supercard SD and Superpass... all I get are 2 white screens. I guess this is normal with a DS that has new firmare? Just want to make sure that is what is supposed to happen.

sneef

Yes, this is normal with the new firmware, but it is ALSO normal on the old firmware DS, if your supercard's firmware is not 1.52.

strange, because njm401 is in the same range as my white DS... and njm402 has also been shown to work.  I have friends who have njh400-njh404 and they work too.

unless the unit's been factory serviced.

moviecouple

Yes... my DS is NJM401. I got it from Play-Asia and I don't think they sell anything other than brand new stuff. Shouldn't be factory serviced... or atleast I don't think they would do that.. Packaging seemed new... and I usually check for that stuff.

My Supercards CF/SD are 1.52 and I am using the Metroid demo and have tried Spiderman 2... and all I get are 2 white screens.

GBA mode works fine... just not DS, but everything works perfectly in my silver unit.

Any ideas?

moviecouple

On another note.

Is it me or does the White unit feel more platic than the American silver one.

sneef

it does.  I think it's the pearlescent coating on the case.  it gives it a plastic glossy feel.

I kinda wish the whole thing was a flat white like the bottom part.  but then again, it would probably pick up more dirt that way.

From your description of the situation, i am assuming your pure white DS has the new firmware.  I guess you'll have to use passme2.  keep in mind that metroid demo doesn't boot all games flawlessly (i'm only mentioning this because when you order the passme2, you can choose which DS cart you'll be booting with, and they'll program the cpld accordingly).  So far, my Rayman DS cart is my most compatible boot cart (even moreso than the metroid demo).

moviecouple

Yes... I saw that you had to choose a cart for the Passme2, but you couldn't choose Rayman as one of them. I guess I will just use the Passme2 just to get the Flashme on the system... then I will go back to using the Superpass. Everything should work at that point. Or so I am hoping. I chose Metroid because it is what most people said to do.

Well... I am glad it wasn't just me that thought the Pure White NDS seemed more plasticy than the silver. I wish it was more like the White PSP I have... and less pearlish to. Seems a bit more feminine than I like. Oh well, can't have everything.

I guess I will just wait for the Passme2 to arrive... not sure how long that will take though. I am bumbed a bit that the serial number I have is within the good range, but doesn't work. Guess the numbering system is hit and miss.

another test using cory1942's sram loader.  flawless.

thanks for your awesome work, man.

*** UPDATE ***

Well... my Passme2 arrived. I then placed the IQSRAM.gba and the IQSRAM.sav that was greatly supplied by Cory onto my Supercard SD... booted it up and then installed the Flashme V5 onto my Pure White DS. Everything went PERFECTLY and without a hitch. Thanks to everyone who helped me through this process.

I do have one other question though. Since I now have the Flashme v5 on my DS... is it possible to put the Flashme v5 alternate version (with the Health Warning) onto the DS now? I sorta miss the NDS jingle tune and health warning. If I can... do I also need to short the SL1 bridge again?

Thanks

Yes and yes.

You don't, however, need to use the PassMe2 again.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Nice, you got your passme2 :) I am glad my theory panned out, its good to know that SRAM is available after boot without directly unlocking the SC first, and that it has saved some people the trouble of buying another flashcart on top of the SuperCard.

Now for a big question, since I dont have a new firmware DS - does anyone know if the FlashMe firmware update restores the DS's compatibility with PassMe1? It would be interesting to know, since devices like the MagicKey2/3 are coming along...

moviecouple

So I can go ahead and install the Alternate Flashme v5... that has the old DS Jingle and Health Warning... and I do need to short out the SL1 bridge again... correct?

The Alternate Flashme V5 does have the DS jingle... doesn't it?

Yes and I don't know, I'm using "no warning" v5.
