Hey, well I think it be time to upgrade from my slot 2 sc lite, and I think I'll be getting my gf one also. So far I know for sure one of them will be a R4 but for the second one I have no idea. I thought about getting another R4 but that G6 real looks pretty awesome. The early reviews all pointed out some pretty minors problems but problems that are also apparent in slot 2s. Now that G6 has been out for awhile with various updates, how would you guys rate it compared to the R4 in terms of games speeds and download play. I've also been hearing of a M3 real coming out as well, any truth to this?

Haven't been on here for awhile, thanks for your help.

I would wait till they get 100% down n play sorted like they promised.. i think that would be a prety good gauge of how good their suppport team is.

Personally I think M3/G6 are nowhere near the force they used to be, I suspect key members of their team left to pursue other causes  (R4/Cyclo perhaps)
Yes I'm mad

I would go for a second R4 you will not be dissapointed ..they are awsome cards for the price ;D

they also have 100% download play with the latest 1.11 firmware and also comes with moonshell 1.71 now too:)

You could also keep the SC lite for a slot 2 device to use with the opera browser that needs the extra ram  :)

and f.y.i M3 SIMPLY and R4 are the same card internally its just a sticker thats different  :)

even the firmware kernels for M3 & R4 is cross flashable now with a patch  :)

Yea, from what I see the only difference between the two were two contacts that were soldered right?

To use the sc lite as a ram pack, will I be needing the SD card? I plan on take the A-data thats in it and use it with the R4, hopefully its fast enough.  ;D

Looking at RHS, I can get one with a Kingston and one without for $100. Not to bad considering my sc lite was around that way back when.

Go with the R4DS or M3 simply. Awesome carts. After fiddling around with the M3 simply, I can't believe anyone would recommend a DS One over R4DS/M3 Simply.

The G6 Real is still has some OS issues imho. I have the latest updates and the touch screen still seems uncalibrated and I have already had the unit corrupt once and lost all the game saves and games on the card. Not to mention it's "cheat" system is not as good or easy as the M3 Simply/R4. All that and the OS loads slower then any other slot 1 OS does.

Why? It does everything the r4/m3 does and more... That being the case why would you recommend an r4/m3? price?  If price and not functionality is the issue the why not an ncard clone? but tbh $6.00 more for the extra features is worth is to me! At the end of the day have you ever used a SC1? I have had an r4 up to firmware 1.09 only thing I can possibly say is its easier to skin... but not very much easier since the last o/s was released.. one day perhaps the r4 will catch up on features/functionality.. But please tell me why the r4 is better?

Check this forum, this has been discussed to death. I too have used both the SC DS and own an M3 Simply and the M3 Simply is better in mine and most of the scene's mind. Look around at all the stores, there constantly selling out of M3 Simply/R4 not the Supercard One and there is a reason. Your gonna find fans of every card thats made, usualy the fans of one cart or another are fans because thats the only card the own and know. There are pro and cons for each but the differences are getting smaller and smaller.

I understand this DeVS you and I have had this discussion before! We have both had the benefit of using more than 1 cart and that does make a difference to peoples perceptions.  I am however still interested in why people believe as they do. What makes the r4/m3 better when it does less? Is it because with less configurability its easier to use? Please help me understand.

I have two DS1's and they blow. First one died on me the first time I turned it on. I turned it on, played with the settings for 30 seconds and it froze. Turned it off, then on and the cart gave me errors. PITA to ship it back to China to get a replacement. The second one works, but the cart does not save game files. Not a coincidence others have this problem, it's a software bug they should've ironed out before releasing the cart. Third, ease of use. The m3/r4ds have a auto save program. None of the headaches of having to search online for each save size you need to set for EACH game.

The only complaint I would have is the faulty memory card brackets on the m3/r4ds. There are ways to fix it and I rather deal with a cart thats painless and super easy to use instead of a cart that wont save my games and dies on me on the first use. The only thing I better about the DS1 is the gui is nicer and you have more options to fiddle with. If a cart wont save your games or doesn't work, it doesn't matter how pretty it looks, it's nearly useless.

lol, you say it does less but in core functionality what less does it do? It has updates, it runs DS games, it runs and auto patches dldi for homebrew, it has a cheat system built in, and it supports download play. What other functions does the R4 not have and Supercard DS does, that  you think most people actually USE?

Absolutely have to have the microSD speed setting so we can brag on message forums how fast our microSD cards are!!!

^ I like the new "in game reset" feature for homebrew, and automatic DLDI patching. I'm taking 3 to 1 bets that Supercard will support real time save before Cyclo or R4, because DS One already supports in game suspend and resume with its cheat and guide system. The only thing SCDS1 doesn't have (yet) is support for SDHC.

BTW you can always find the save size for DS game ROMs here . . .
http://www.dualscene.net/lists/index.php?listname=Supercard
. . . or simply select 4M save size when in doubt. I never understood the big deal.

SCDS1 supports using SCLite at the same time. For example pressing L+B in the SCDS1 OS will boot the SCLite menu. You can also run GBA ROMs from the SCDS1 OS with SCLite inserted. You can even run a clean copy of the Nintendo DS Browser ROM using SCDS1 and SCLite (not rumble) by selecting the "brower" menu option. Using both cards together you can have up to 4GB of memory storage packed with DS games and homebrew. The latest SCDS1 SP4 update supports the same features as R4 and more, though R4 is easier to use. I recommend people who already own slot 2 Supercards consider SCDS1 if they think they need a slot 1 card too. Slot 1 and slot 2 Supercards make a great combination.

hahah, wow I didn't mean to start up an argument and yes, I believe you guys have discussed this before. I thought I was reading this out of another thread. Well RHS has the R4 in so I'll be picking up a couple of those. As for R4 and Supercard One there are the same price but I've seen alot of owners complain that they're not as happy as they want to be with the Supercard One, while the R4 has been positive expect that whole spring issue.
