Why/how does the Supercard DS One skip the DS Main Menu?

You'd probably be better off ejecting the SCDS actually.  Each slot you fill in the DS uses additional battery power, as each DS and GBA game has two pins on them, power and ground, that energy flows through as long as they are plugged in.  I regularly eject my slot-1 card when using my slot-2 Supercard to increase the battery life.

How about nds lite slot-2 filler cart?
does that use power?

I haven't seen one myself, but as far as I'm aware there aren't any pins connected in the dust cover, so it probably wouldn't use up battery power.

Ah, that's some good advice, I hadn't considered that even though I had known that the SuperCard takes up more battery life.

But that won't be a problem for me. Luckily, a crack has formed in the right hand hinge of my DS Lite, so when the battery life is sucky, it's time to send it in for a replacement. The DS Lite I have now is a replacement of my first one, which had cracks on both hinges, so this time I'll be demanding I get a new one...with a fresh battery. =]
