hey,
I can't seems to find it in the createthumbnail.exe in the moonshell folder that I've extracted. How do I create the thumbnails then?
Would appreciate some help here. Thanks. :)

amgine, welcome to scdev!

OK, you need to download the moonshell program, not just the premade ones. The .exe is included in that.

(note, fixed links to moonshell 1.71 and batchdpg)

i kinda need help with my ds... i'm trying to add the moonshell to my ds using edge (microsd) but it's giving me errors. i followed the details of the tutorial but it's not working properly. this is the error when i open it using the _BOOT_MP.NDS "an error was detected while trying to access the disc or a file" can anyone help? thanks! will definitely appreciate it...

Evomatic, welcom to scdev.

To add moonshell to the edge you need to grab the premade and put the 'moonshl' folder in root directory of your microSD. Then it should work with no issues. let me know what happens.

evomatic

it worked!  :) but my old dpg files doesn't seem to work...  :'( i'll try converting the files again and let you know if it works fine. by the way, do i remove the _BOOT_MP.NDS from the memory card? thanks for the help!

I cannot remember for sure, but, depending on which dpg converter you used to make your old ones, there may be an issue with 1.71. Again, not sure.

btw, glad it is working for you!

it's working properly now! thank you very much! appreciate the assistance!!!  :)

Hi to all, i'm a new user,

I would really like to put videos on my r4 but so far when I click on the button (media/moonshell), it gives me a blank screen and no buttons work. What I have on my ds are :
-games
-music
-Batch dpg...

Soo far what I've done is found the URL of the video I wanted, (youtube) and pasted it on Zamzar.com, then I said convert to AVI... I wanted to convert it in DPG from AVI so I made these settings:
FPS: 20
Video bitrate: 386
Max bitrate: 512
Passes: 3
Profile: Ultra
Resizer - Spline16
Width: 256
Height: 192
Audio bitrate: 128
Samplerate: 32768
Mode: Joint Stereo
Normalize: On
I did not put fps because did not find/know what it is.
If I put on default, I get error message saying horizontal view 254 unsupported.

What to do, if possible a tutorial from the beginning just in case I have to reset settings.

First off welcome to scdev.

OK, you should read the tutorial from the first post as it answers most of your questions. (if you dont see the pics, they will be back up shortly as this tutorial has alot of hits and dl's.

You say above that you have batchdpg on your DS, well that does not belong on the DS but on your PC.
Copy moonshl folder and _moonshl.nds file to the root of TF card. Then you should be good to go.

I am a noob and just bought two new R4 SDHC carts. I have been totally unsuccessful to get either to work. One of them will browse and launch the games but will not play any mp3 files. The other one just displays a white screen when I try the multimedia launcher. They are identical. I have reformatted them both to FAT16 several times. I used the pre-compiled files from "thedsdeals dot com" where I made the purchase. I would like to try my own build but their add states that the R4 SDHC is not the same as the R4 so which linker do I use? Should I dump the R4 SDHC and go with something different like the DSTT or the Acekard? Any help, advice, suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks,

use the one included with the official R4 1.18 kernel that should work :)

Any SDHC-enabled "R4" is not a real R4.  It may work, and it may use the same R4 firmware, but it's not an "official" R4 product and so we can't guarantee that it will work correctly.  I've heard that even these SDHC-enabled ones only work up to 4 GB, but that may be false.

Try formatting in FAT32 instead of FAT16 and use the latest official R4 loader to see if that makes a difference.

If you have the option of returning them, you may wish to invest in a different device like the Acekard 2 or SCDS or CycloDS Evolution.

Or even the EDGE card as it works very similar to the R4 screen (and i love the card as well).

Hey,

I am using and Ace Kard and I used the link, but I keep getting that error message. It says in the instructions that it will go away, do I need to do anything to make it go away? Thanks

onekelly

PM20, welcome to scdev!

So your error message, what is it saying and do you ever have moonshell start up all the way or is it on the error screen always?
