I have my games on a GCOS disc with FSTFIX run on them, so I actually need the audiofix turned off to make my backups work. After upgrading to 1.9s Ikaruga has that dreadful scratchy sound again whether I turn audiofix on or off, so I can confim something is indeed wrong with the new version. Went back to 1.9g and it works again.

Argh!

Can you supply more info about your Wii?  What region it is and what kind of D2x you have?  Thanks.

Oh well.  How can I really play when 1.9s isn't problem-free?  I'm sticking with 1.9g as it's the best one.

Doesn't the single player mode like... hang there?

No; there is a version / ppf patch floating around that relinks some of the movie files etc... everything is fully playable but you see the same movie alot in single player...

Cool.    It's only a matter of finding the right DVD5 iso then.

Keep in mind that the DVD-5 hack is trucha signed and may not work if Nintendo really does have a patch for it in the next update.

Thanks for encouraging me to play and now discouraging me, guys. 

I certainly don't know if the Wiikey schmucks are going to release another update to fix their stupid audio fix error.  Chances are, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Although, since my Wii is 100% offline, I wouldn't have to worry about online updates so much...
