<zid`>: loopy_: just jiggled it around a bit?
<loopy_>: oh, and... you WILL need to mess with SL1 again

Tested and working fine. Not different for "Lost in Blue" so guessing it will probally be the same for current incompat games..

WOWWWWWWWWWWWW

tested.. worked.. new let the mario Kart comes!

I won't flash my firmware, and I bet MK will work as well as almost everygame right now, including lost in blue ;)

I also think it should work online too, if not then I am counting on the Supercard crew to do something about it :)

And a big "ME TOO" there...

I don't want to say I told you so to everyone... <_< But I told you so.

For those people that can't get it to flash, did you make sure you bridged the SL1 contact again?

I'm about to install it on my DS now ^_^

I actually never tried it and I don't see a single reason why I should. I never mess arround with things that actually work, no need to fix stuff that isn't broken :) -besides I am really happy with the compatibility with supercard and superpass. -all games that I am interested in work, ok kirby not, but I allready own it anyway.

Koji

Ahhh you mean you chose not to use it at all. I thought you ment you had problems installing the new flashme. Works wonderfully for me. I don't notice anything different... from what I hear, Loopy had to use a bit of compression on the firmware because Flashme actually was larger then nintendo's firmware. That wasn't a problem before, but now that wifi-games are out and are actually writing to that empty space he just had to make it smaller.

Mario Kart does not completely rewrite or upgrade the firmware, only writes to the empty sectors so this should work unless the final mario kart does something differently from the preview builds that some people have gotten.

CTX100

umm but mariokart can't write stuff on the firmware if the DS wasn't opened and modified before, can it?! And why do they know that about the rom, I mean the game isn't out and I can't see it on pocketheavens releaselist...

OK, so this may answer the question that I have seen no answer to: if you don't use Flashme, would it be possible for Mario Kart to alter the DS firmware so that Passme would no longer work?  It sounds like the answer is no from reading this.  Can this be confirmed yet?

CTX100: Who told you that? Only the first 64kb of firmware is write protected. Flashme accesses this mainly so it can put the backup code onto it (incase of bricking or a failed firmware install)

The rest of the firmware is completely open for anyone or anything to write to it. Why did you think the bricker scam hit so many people so hard?

strells: It has not been confirmed for the released game. However, the preview build that was sent out to the press so they could try it out was used to see that there was originally a problem.

The press release version of Mario Kart was never dumped. That's why it's not on any rom dump list. We'll have to wait till the game is out to know for certain, but I doubt nintendo will alter the firmware between then and the time it's released. And if it does, it would probably only be a few days after release before loopy could work out another version of flashme.

there no problem if Passme..

Mario Kart is not tring to avoid the use of this stop

DS was Build with some free space in firmware.. to onlinegames write the wifi settings on it..

but the falshme uses that space.. so thats why the Mario Kart is Bricking some DS ( Only DSes with FLASHME !!!  )

so dont need to worry ...

Is better to use Falshme than use the normal Firmware..

with flashme you can recobver you firmware, with the original you cant..

so you you run the bricker... you are screwd

Koji

Was talking to some people at pocket heaven, it's not very likely that Nintendo would risk writing to the already used portions of the firmware. If someone were to accidentally turn off their DS or the power died while it was writing to the firmware, it could very likely cause bricking which nintendo will not risk. Especially since there is no backup code for the original DS firmware.

That would mean Nintendo would be replacing a lot of units, or repairing them free of charge which would be expensive.
