somebody talk about new features about new firmware at ndsbbs.
1,100% compatibility(fixed Pokemon Dash, and some other games freeze bugs)
2,turn off lower screen when playing GBA games under NDS mode.
3,fixed some games SC reset problems..
4,add compress,speedup function in convertor.
5,reset key combo changed to L+R+A+B+X+Y
6,direct boot to SC,so forget the ABXY+Power.

Sounds great apart from the reset key sequence, as that combo is used to reset game data in games like NintenDogs.
Yes I'm mad

Greater compatibility sounds good.
Two was never an issue for me.
something else that wasn't an issue for me.
I was wondering when compression was going to be added (this is probably roms that load to SC only). I'm interested in what "speedup" function means though.
I never used reset, so #5 doesn't mean much.
I actually prefer NOT directly booting to SC... but I guess I'll be forced to... oh well.

I actually prefer NOT directly booting to SC ds ethier.  how will it work if you have your SC in but you want to play a ds cartrige?  would you have to pull the SC out before you start up the ds

Hold select when your DS boots then select boot from DS slot in the DS menu.

I'm sure someone could easily create a small program that you load from the SC to load a DS game as well.

is this just a rumor of is this for real?

if for real, THAT'S EXCELLENT! CAN'T WAIT!
sorry for being ignorant, but when is the chinese spring festival?

also,
how will the new firmware load from the NDS slot if it boots straight to the supercard? hopefully not by removing the cart!

Koji answered your question just above your one pootang  :)

I'm all for direct booting to SC. When I wanna use my supercard I put it in, if I don't I take it out,  simple as that

hehehehe there was only 1 reply when i started typing my message ... i go have breakfast and by the time i get back someone answers my question before i even get to post it

my bad!

thats for answering my question in advance :)

I am very excited about the ability to turn off one screen when booting GBA games from DS mode. This means with the SC in, I'll never have to go into "GBA mode" from the DS menu again to play GBA games without the white screen. REALLY looking forward to this feature!

I wonder though, will this really turn off the other screen? Or will it only turn off the backlight? Sure, that'd save some power, but it'd still be using more power then just GBA mode. Should be interesting to see.

Compression on ds roms??? this may couse slowdonws dont it??

and about speed up?

Good point. I notice it also says "Turn off LOWER screen". Does this mean that if you have it configured to display GBA games ON the lower screen that you will see nothing? I guess time will answer our questions.

I think the "speed up function in convertor" means that the games will patch faster when you run the software.

I assume the direct boot to the supercard is for flashme.  Will it effect anything if you use superpass?

Dudu, I already commented on that. Most likely this is only for games that load directly from supercard (256mbit and smaller games). In that way, it'd work identical to GBA compression.

As for speeding up patching... I doubt it. Normally you wouldn't call that a "function", it'd be a feature and with it being put right next to the compression it makes it sound like they are both added options to use on roms.

It's hard to be sure based on that translation...

What I'm thinking it probably means (but can't be certain) is that it uses a speedup method to load a large portion of the rom to the SC ram, and thus speeds up game loading (much like M3 does with Osu Tatakae Ouendan)
