For some reason I cant upgrade my supercard firmware. I have a supercard mini with a 1gb stick.  I deleted everything off of the card, and put sd_162.bin in the root folder.  However when i start it up, it just brings up the menu and if i try to load sd_162.bin it just brings up an error message.  Could this be because I already have the latest firmware on my supercard?  Is there a way to check the current firmware?  sorry if these are stupid questions.  thanks

rocky

Hold L and R when you boot that will tell you what firmware you have on it.  that file might also be corrupt try downloading someware else.

Haoie

The latest firmware autoruns, I recall. SCU type.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

rocky

Yea it should autorun but sometimes for me it doesnt it could be the file extention I think .scu autoruns and .bin doesnt

Thanks for everyones help so far.  I figured out i have version 1.60.  When I try to load the sd_162.bin it goes the gameboy startup thing then comes up with the error: Data verify error!   I dont think its a corrupt download because I've tried 2 different download locations.  I havent tried the SCU version though, can someone point me towards a link?  sorry for being such an idiot

rocky

I dont think their is a .scu version.  I dont realy know what is wrong did you try different memory cards?

spartan111

thanks for the quick reply :)  I dont have another card to test it on.. but just to make sure, i dont run the sd_162.bin through any supercard software or anything do i?  just drop it in the memory card after you extract it from the .rar?

rocky

Yea just drop it on the root of your card.  did you try reformating your card and make sure its fat format also make sure you dont have a fake supercard.  I just checked mine does not auto run it is the sd_162.bin file.  do you get to the part where it asks you "are you sure upgrade?  A--yes B--no"?

spartan111

Yeah mines fat format and not fake, i just made sure.  I boot up my ds, it brings up the menu, i choose sd_162.bin, then it brings up the gameboy logo, and then says wait verify data with red text.  then it says Data verify error! Please turn off GBA.  Thats what it does everytime.  There arent special buttons I have to hold when I turn on the DS when I do this is there?

rocky

No your doing everything right I dont know what is wrong.  you could try a older firmware and see if that works.  I dont realy know what could be wrong.  maybe someone else knows.  You do have a supercard SD right? and not a CF

spartan111

Yeah i have a supercard.  Its the miniSD could that be the problem?  I also have a corsair card if that makes a difference.  I tried version 1.61, and i got to the part where it asks me are you sure, i said yes then it did the same thing as before.  This happened with other versions as well.  Reinstalling flashme wouldnt help would it?  Do you think the problem is most likely the supercard itself?  once again, thanks for all your help.

edit:  i just tried a normal supercard SD with my miniSD card in there using an miniSD - SD adapter. it came up with the same message. that means the problem is probably my miniSD card doesnt it?  I have a sd card to try also, but no way to hook it up to my computer at the moment.

rocky

No miniSD is the same as SD.  flashme has nothing to do with it.  Yea I think it is the supercard.  did you just get it?  when you hold L and R do all the other tests come out okay?

spartan111

Well I tried the mini sd card with 2 different supercards, so i dont think the supercards are the problem but i dont really know.  Yeah i just got these, 1 for me and my brother, running DS games off of them doesnt work either, but i figured thats because of the old firmware on the supercards.  All of the tests are ok, except after the Test SD/MMC, it says

Test SD/MMC
SD/MMC ok!
not find test file

I dont know if that could mean anything or not.

rocky

so you cant get either supercards to update?  1.60 will run DS games  If you cant get either supercard updated that prabaly means your memory card doesnt work with it.  Can you play GBA games?

spartan111

correct, I cant get either supercard to update.  GBA games wont work either, and im pretty sure my minisd card is the problem.    Are corsairs known to work or not work?  The SDcard my brother has is also corsair, do you think that could cause the same problem?  Do you have any recommendations for a miniSD card that should work well?
