i can check later but it will probably be the same.  tested the mario games, patched with new patcher, and they are the same as always.  so i guess I'll stick to ez3 for GBA... (by the way, they are dirt cheap on winsunx rite now, so if you guys just want a good GBA cart, you should get one)

First off, I think sneef deserves a big thank you for documenting all the tests he's performed - he didn't have to, but has done a damn fine job and seems to answer everyones questions...

Now, I know you've only just bought this thing, but surely you've already voided the warranty (shaving the plastic?).  I'm wondering whether you'd be willing to crack open this badboy so we can see what the internals look like?  I'm wondering whether it's possible to take the PCB out and hack it into the official dust cover, as (imo) the matte plastic looks a bit tacky.

[I knew I shouldn't have bought my SCminiSD (only got it 2 months ago) - ah well...I suppose I can give (read: 'sell') it to my sister if I decide to buy a SCLite.]

Great news!!!   Supercard no.1 for DS games ;)

btw.. If you disable In Game Reset for Castlevania I think it gets rid of that sound distortion.
Yes I'm mad

Yeah, I know, double post, but I've just had a thought regarding the matte plastic.  Assuming that the casing is made from polycarb or ABS, you could just use a very light abbrasive car polish to shine it up a bit.  It probably won't match the rest of the DS Lite casing, but it'll possibly look a little better.

It'd still mean you'd have to take the cart apart though (unless you're very careful, you may get a small amount of polish in the SD slot).  Give it a go, it should work pretty well - just try it on a small area first (maybe the back of the cart).

In the UK, there's a polish called 'Autoglym' which would work well - I've used this stuff before on things other than car bodywork (I even polished an old Microsoft mouse to remove the texture and make it shiney).

It's only a couple of games (and one of them it's only the intro video) out of the hundreds that slow very slightly in places, let's get this in proportion. Animal crossing can always be written to the GBA ram to solve the slightly sluggish in-game menu problem anyway.

Sorry to all for my lameness, but how can I write animal crossing to gba ram to solve the slowdowns? I'm a little newbie in SC world ;)

when you patch the rom, select rom position to supercard

Thank you very much.. But that load method is not limited to 256mbit roms?
After the trim my animal crossing rom is still 340mbit.. It will work the same?

sneef

hmm.. something is wrong then.. animal crossing shouldn't come out so large.  it should be less than 256mbit after patching..

and i will take it apart in a while.  it's a pretty busy week/weekend for me though.  I just wanted to keep you all up to date, since I know many people were looking forward to the supercard lite.

It was my fault.. I tried to trim the european version of Animal Crossing that is 512mbit.. The US version is 256mbit so no problems with that rom! Thanx for the help!

sneef: any news on the homebrew front ? dslinux, dsorganize, scummvm ?

Can you paste the link for that new patcher? I tried to look for it on supercard.cn but can't find it.

Edit: Nevermind, found it here: http://chn.supercard.cn/download.htm

You have to go the chinese version of the web site.... or grab it from http://l33t.spod.org/ratx/DS/SC

socket

It's available on this site now, too.

How about homebrew?  Is it still borked?

I'm glad to hear that the new SC is more efficient.  Hopefully with this improved efficiency there might be some possibility in the future of improving GBA speeds somewhat.

I think I'm going to have to order one.  Realhotstuff has them for $50 without microSD, 100 with.  Seems like kind of a ripoff to be frank... there's no mention of the cards being Sandisk Ultra-IIs, so they're probably the vanilla version which is only worth $30, not $50..  ( http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=olp_offerlisting_6/102-6288495-6803317?ie=UTF8&me=AIC4BLHVWVYL8 ) A little weird.  If they're Ultra-IIs, then that's a reasonable price though.

I went with the deal because any local suppliers have the 1gb for 75 canadian. This way I don't pay any extra shipping, and I get it the same time as my SC lite. Fine deal to me.
