No local supplier can compete with the prices people can offer who have no storefront, no overhead to worry about.  After my experience in recent months, the only reason I'd ever shop at a local store is if: it's an emergency so I can't wait, it's a 50% off sale (bringing prices down to what I'd pay online), or if it's a very heavy item like a couch or an air conditioner or something.

My local Futureshop, a large canadian computer/electronics chain store, had a camera on for 25% off.  Price was $449.99, I very nearly bought it.  Then found it online brand-new for $300, or $199 if used.  Shipping = $4.

To be honest if you buy any memory card, regardless of capacity or speed, for more than $50 shipped, I'd say you were ripped off.  $75 for a gig, like your local store has, is ridiculous.

What about a 150x 60GB Micro SD

75 including GST is low for microsd in a brick-and-mortar place. Futureshop sells 256 for 50 without GST.

Canadacomputers is selling a 4gb 133x OCZ SD card for 96 dollars. According to you that is also a ripoff. I think you need to slightly loosen your standards.

Sneef - Would it be at all possible to test DSOrganize and see if it works?

Since we have to use the new patcher for the Supercard Lite... I am wondering if you can use the new output rom with the older sav file from the regualr SD? So we don't loose all our save points.

FifthE1ement

Yes, there should be no problems using your old saves.

That's my point though.  Buy from a brick-and-mortar store, you're paying for their overhead and employees.  The thousands of dollars in rent, salary, etc, has to be paid by someone, and that someone is customers who don't know to buy from a place that'll get you a good deal.  Amazon, ebay, factorydirect, refurbdepot, pcccanada, ncix, and to a lesser extent, tiget direct and canada computer, etc... they're the places to shop at if you want the most value for your money.  They can make a good bit of money just from advertising, etc, and have no store front (some exceptions) or a huge number of employees.

My standards are pretty high, yeah... I guess a more accurate thing to say is, "no memory card that costs over $50 is really worth it".  I mean, there's exceptions like if you need to store an entire season of 24 or something on your supercard so you can watch it on vacation... but what I'm trying to say is that, at the speed that technology advances, it's better to find something for $50 and just get the best deal.  Look how quickly various storage mediums go obsolete - MMC, SD, RS-MMC, mini-SD, xD, CF, memory stick, memory stick duo, all of these have been invented in the last 5 years or so.  Is it worth it to have a 150x 4 gig SD card when in the very near future you might find that most devices only accept miniSD?  Is a few weeks of saying "i've got the very best" worh $200, or in other words, 8 cases of beer?  4 trips to a theme park?  10 meals at a decent restaurant?  A car payment?  Maybe you're all better off than me, but I don't have hundreds of dollars to throw around on a whim.

I agree with you on that point. I went with realhotstuff over the local store for two reasons: it was a lot cheaper and I like supporitng RHS as he has done a lot for me in the past. I may have been able to find it even cheaper on amazon or ebay, but I've been burned a few times and genuine trust is a rare thing when it comes to online deals. The only reason I might be caught at a local store is for the return policies.

ImmortalNinja

Well I just got mine and in love with it.
(Thanks Chris, http://www.supercardstore.com/ definitely the place to go in the UK)
Good thing they did include top-loading for the micro-sd because that bugger sure aint coming out easily from the GBA slot.

Anyway using a SanDisk Ultra II 1gb there was no choppiness in the Castlevania intro!!
And no flikering bottom screen either in Rub Rabbits when compared to my vanilla mini-SD

Interestingly enough when I tried the Castlevania that was patched with the new patcher on the mini-sd to compare performance I got two white screens....

Glad I got the Ultra II now :)

sorry guys.. been super busy.  tried DS Organize.. doesn't seem to work.. at least not the pre-compiled version.

REIN doesn't work either.. :(

I guess there will have to be specially patched versions, like the patched "moomshell" (moonshell.. mispelled by sc team) that was released.

oh well.  so much for homebrew for now.  (sad.  that's one of the main reasons I like supercard.)

I was looking at the pics of the SC Lite and notcied no battery?
