Hi,

I got my NDS Lite 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty interested in a Lite flashcard.
I already got a M3 Mini-SD, and I'm very happy with it.
Now, my question is: Can you guys give me positives and negatives of each card?
I would apriciate that.  :D

Thanks..

Supercard - Expandable Memory but GBA support is so-so, homebrew support is good
G6 - Memory cannot be expanded past 512MB but looks good and has great gba support, homebrew that writes to memory doesn't work unless compiled etc.

G6lite review is on my website:

Built in?
What built in emu?
I've been trying to find a way to run my .SMC's with the G6 but can't find any way but snesDS (as seperate program)....could be me though (perhaps I do not have the correct software....).
If you find somewhere how to run them I would gladly check it out :P.

i reccomend the SC lite for many reasons.
1. perect nds
2. its way cheaper
3. its expandable in memory
4.its very simple and easy to use
5. it wont corrupt your save files or your card like the g6.
6. it always get upgrades quicker for a game thats not working
7.you dont have to back up your save files and repacth every single game when upgrading the frimware.

1) G6 Lite has perfect NDS :o
2) It is cheaper, but you have to still buy a good memory card
3) M3 Lite will be expandable in memory, you can't really compare a G6 and SC product seeing how one is an adapter and one is a flashcart
4) G6 has a better interface and is easy to use, so can't use that arguement for SC a lone
5) Corruption has only occured on a few - mainly those who used the English Beta on their Chinese G6
6) No, I would say both get equal attention for upgrades. I know that M3 got a very quick update for Mario Hoops 3v3
7) You don't have to repatch every game when upgradign to a new firmware, only those that have drastic changes (I have only had to do this once out of my entire time owning a M3).

M3 and G6 is made by the same team, so support should be the same for both.

Note to thread creator - SC will be a nice cheap solution for an adatper, but if you wait for the M3 Lite, you will receive better GBA support (this is almost gauranteed)

Dont the SCL and G6 work out to be the same once you buy the memory card and everything?
Although I guess for a little extra cash you can get a lot more storage with the SC.
Very happy with my SCL.
Waiting to see if they release a 1gb black g6 lite, then I'll get one for the Black lite my GF has.
At the end of the day its all much of a muchness. They'll all let you play "evaluation" games and they all get around to fixing incompatablites in the end....

I have supercard mini, but I'm planning on selling it and getting a G6 lite over a supercard lite, because it supposedly fits better in the NDSL GBA slot and it's finish matches the NDSL perfectly.  Plus the menu looks great and the NDS compatibilty is about as good as Supercard.

the big issue for most people is how much the card can hold, but 512MB is fine for me.  I have a 2Gb mini SD card and I am not even using a 1GB yet.

128 megabytes max?  Absymal.  That's what the Ultra FlashPass gives you, and it's SLOT 1.

I love my supercard and will get a SCLite soon...

I have both SC and M3 solutions, and if the M3 Lite is anything like the normal M3/M3-Mini, then there are a couple things that they need to address:

* People seem to hype up the interface of the M3, but it is crappy, slow and makes me fustrated.  I would trade for a fast ASCII interface any day as long as the support for everything I wanted to work is there.

* I hate the crappy save system of the M3, I don't like restarting the whole unit to back up a save, or even interrupting a game to get back to the god-awful interface to save again.  If it could save on the fly like the SC, I would be more favourable to the M3.

If the supercard had perfect GBA support, I'd never even give the M3 a second thought, but as it stands for me the deciding factor is how important GBA support is to you.  Fortunately its not so much for me, and i'm more happy with a supercard SD than my M3-Mini.

The G6 Lite looks fantastic though, the interface seems like a huge improvement, but I can't comment on functionality until i've tried one!  Does anyone know much about the saving system, and if its similar to the M3?

well it wasnt like that but im still not sure on a definitive answer. With the 4.1a update everytime you turn on the G6L, a message saying Data Processing...Don't Turn Off Power. It takes a mere 2-3 seconds and it doesnt bother me at all. i just play like normal, ust off after i save from say like NSMB and then i still have it. So im not sure on a definitive answer to that question.

Overall i owned a SC MiniSD before i sold it for the G6 Lite. I have to say i am very pleased with the trade. I just dont like the idea that the SC Lite doesnt have a spring loaded slot for the microSD which scares me in the way that it may fall out.

DisasteR

I believe that when patching a NES, SNES etc. rom bundles the file with emulation and so it is then possible to just drop it onto the G6L and play.

Anyway this is how I see the comparison of the two cards:

Capacity:

The SCL has expandable memory which is a plus if you want to carry movies and mp3s on your DS as well as games. The down side to this is that in the past there have been performance drops due to the memory access speeds etc. and although some of these issues have been addressed with the SCL, I wouldn't expect such problems to be erradicated.

The G6L has 512mb which is more than enough space for those wishing to play games; it will fit up to 15-20+ games (depending on the game sizes) which in all honesty is enough. As the memory is accessed directly there are no performance issues at all which is exactly what we all want from a card.

Build Quality:

The SCL build quality is decent. It feels sturdy and isn't likely to break on you with general use. It is however too large for the GBA slot and is an extreamly tight fit! This been said there is little need to remove the card as the SD card is front loading. As for the front loading of the SD there have been reports of the SD slot becoming 'looser' over time so this may be a problem. Also I have seen a few SCL's where the seam where the two halves of the card are joined is not perfectly tight, especially around the area of the SD card slot.

The G6L build quality is at the moment the best of all the cards. The fact that it doesnt need to account for removable storage probably helps. It fits into the DSL without any hastle and asphetically is very good. It has a glossy finish and is available in all the colours (even black), compared to the GBA dust cover it is a very close likeness.

Compatability / Support:

Both cards have a high level of support with regular updates to fix non working games etc. so from this point of view they are the same. In terms of NDS game compatability they are also close, but obviously the memory access times may have an affect on this, but nothing major.

For GBA games the SCL is poor. Very poor compared to the G6L. If you want to play GBA games then the choice should be easy.

Homebrew isn't really my thing so I wouldn't like to comment on that but as far as I understand the SCL is better suited than the G6L on this.

User Interface:

I like the SCL interface (same as the other SC's). It is simple yet functional. Straight to the point but also very bland. It also cannot be customized should you wish to.

The G6L interface uses the touch screen and is intuitive and clear, I haven't seen any slowdown. The G6L game launcher UI shows an image for each game (which is extracted from the rom during patching) which is a nice touch.

Hmmm I'll leave it at that for now :)
