I saw a new newspost about a new hinge cracking problem that's beginning to emerge.  By know we all know about the left hinge cracking problem, but this new problem is the RIGHT side.



I just checked my DS Lite and mine has these same two little diagonal cracks.  I never would have found them without these posts.  Even after looking at the pictures and then at my DS I thought my cracks were just lint or dust.  I had to double and triple check before I was sure that I had hairline fractures in my right hinge.

PLEASE check your DS Lite as soon as possible for this new hinge crack(s).  Remember that Nintendo has pledged FREE repairs for hinge cracking problems.

The exact same thing happened to my daughters Navy Blue DS Lite this week.  Unfortunately I purchased this DS Lite ($160) second hand from a member here and I don't think I will be able to get Nintendo to replace it.  Oh well.

Good idea, I'll try it.    Even if they do replace it I don't think it's going to be a Navy Blue one.  A white one would be better than nothing.  Well, at the very least the parts might be worth something on ebay.

I have cracked hinges on both my DS units. I just got off the phone with Nintendo and there sending a pre-paid package for me to send the units back and there replacing them for free. Was no hassle at all. They said it would be 8-12 from the day I drop it off till I get it back. I called this number listed on Nintendo's site: 1-800-255-3700

Yea Vancouver has a headquarter right here, not sure if they do exchanges here though...  I have flashme stealth too

man you guys are so lucky.  Nintendo of America is so much better at customer service than over here in Singapore.  Over here, the DSLite is distributed by a company called Maxsoft (it even has that printed on the back where all the device information is), and they are not accepting the hinge problem as a manufacturing defect, so it doesn't fall under warranty.

I just wish I could get mine exchanged.  Maybe I could call long distance to Nintendo of America, arrange for a replacement, and courier the thing to my grandma's house in the states for her to send to them.  heh.

LOL, buy em at big retail stores.  I bought it at Toys R Us, and I returned it 4 times cause of "cracked hinge" and dead pixels (one very not noticable).

I just exchanged mine at best buy too. Had it for 1 month and it had those exact same cracks on the right side.
What I like to know is how many of you with the crack put their DSLite in their pants pocket. also left pocket or right pocket?

yeah i have a hairline crack as well, well the start of one, not very long yet. will keep an eye on it.

See thats y I stick to my DSPhat for most of the time. My DSL rarely gets used. Gotta keep that baby looking great
