if your OS is windows xp pro.  I think use the bridge function is the best solution.(don't use ICS).  Please try to run "netsh bridge show adapter" in CMD to show the state of the Layer 3 compatibility mode of adapters.  If you WIFI card is NOT in compatibility mode.  Run "netsh bridge set adapter 1 enable"(if your wifi card id is 1).

I have the linksys v4 PCI card.

I am running into some problems.  The Gigabyte software refuses to show the card unless I have the linksys drivers installed.  The linksys drivers automatically run this crappy ass network finding program.  I think the two running have compatability issues and end up crashing my system.  I have been able to get it working after a few tries.  I am not really sure what did it.

Also, I was having trouble connecting my DS.  It found the network but would not actually connect on testing.  I later found out zonealarm was running and is usually the cause of a lot of problems.  I turned this off and it connected fine.  I am guessing some sort of special settings need to be used when sharing the internet connection.

I also ran the WinDS program to control mydesktop from the DS.  It worked fine and was kinda cool but when I went to run Mario Kart after this I found out it would not connect to the AP.  I turned off AP mode and turned it back on and mario kart connected fine.

Has anybody tried with windows 2003? I just bough a Conceptronic C54Ri and there's no way I can do it.

I tried installing the drivers in WINXPAP and WINXPSTA folders, but they don't work. I also tried installing the utility first and they said:

"No suitable drivers available".

I don't know what to do know, because this card is in the compatibility list and I don't know why it doesn't work.

Done.
I uninstalled my Gigabyte drivers for my Ralink card, switched my card to Ad-Hoc mode, and set up NAT32e to use my on-board LAN interface (a nForce ethernet card) as the "internet" connection and my Belkin PCI wireless card as the "private" interface, started up NAT32e, and was able to connect to Nintendo WFC without issues.
Just to verify, I dropped all the Nintendo WFC connections from my DS, set it up again, and once again was able to connect.
The biggest issue with Ad-Hoc (as with SoftAP, honestly) is a need for a IP Tunnel from your WiFi "card" to your actual internet connection and a DHCP server listening on the WiFi "card."

While I didn't test with Windows ICS, that should work as well.

My Kung-Fu wins!

Does this work with a non Ralink card? I'm using a D-Link DWL-G630 pcmcia card in ad-hoc mode. The DS can see the D-Link, but won't connect. I am using NAT32, so the problem might be a misconfiguration there. I tried with ICS but I had no luck

Didn't have the stamina to read the hole 6 pages right now.. but anyway.. i got a Asus WL-167g USB Dongel .. with the original Asus drivers for this dongel that acctualy support SoftAP .. so no messing with anything else is needed :D and this works with all WiFi stuff and acts like a normal router for my wierless LAN anyway :D tested it with PSP and XBOX360 too and that seem's to work fine too .. so i'd suggest if u can't get it working get this one ..

For the sake of anyone doing a search, I got my Sweex LC7000050 pci card working fine with the drivers from post 1 of this thread. Yey! But does anyone know what in zonealarm pro I need to set in order for it to work when thats running? I can't see any obvios looking program/component in zonealarm's list.

Ok, I couldnt get it working through ZoneAlarm.. even when I enabled access  for EVERY windows component!! So anyway I swapped ZoneAlarm for Kerio as my firewall.. and DS wifi is working through that! Just had to enable the option in Kerio:

Network Security > Advanced > Enable Gateway Mode

Does anybody have  backup of the softap software?  The link is dead =(.  Thanks!

Here is what I have on my HDD, dont know if its what you need though

The RT-2500/gigabyte soft AP drivers
(not certain of the diff, I know my EDIMAX RT2500 works great with the 1.5 version though):
gn-wpkg v1.5.zip
gn-wmkg v2.3.zip

The marvell softAP drivers:

Desisntall your  drivers ( and wifime drivers too ).

Install this one..

after instaled..

select Switch to AP MODE as picture shows !

With all due respect, I'm having trouble understanding these instructions.

I've uninstalled my drivers and opened the Setup.exe in the Utility Folder of the Gigabyte Zip file.

This runs the set up but Windows still finds new hardware and demands for drivers.

Which drivers should be installed at this stage?

Am I getting the instructions wrong?

My card is an Edimax EW-7128g.
It appears on the list of supported cards but according to this geeza, ti won't work
