I have used batchdpg for a little bit and most of the time it works fine.  I was trying to convert some of the TV Show lost and came across something interesting.  The only shows it will actually convert fine are ones encoded by lol, but everything else, it takes forever and when it's done all it has done is created a script using avisynth, but there is absolutely no dpg file.  anyone have any ideas if this can be fixed or if some .avis it absolutely hates?

You might not have the necessary codecs to convert them.  Find out what codecs the videos are and get them somewhere.  Then try again.

spiderguy84

how can i find out what codec they use and where is a good place to download codecs

rorix_bladewing5

do the videos work in windows media player?

spiderguy84

yes, all the videos will play just fine in every media player i have batchdpg just won't do anything beyond putting the script file out

rorix_bladewing5

If the script file is still there, the video didn't convert fully.  Maybe you're just being impatient? Not accusing you of anything but just making sure.  It does take a while to convert videos

You might be having a problem, are you checking where you said to put the output file?

check out this tutorial, it should help you out.

i had five files in the queue, started it and left for the day to work, i came back and the one file encoded by lol had successfully created a .dpg file that runs fine, and it was the last one on the queue list, the queue was empty and i left it alone for another two hours to go to the grocery store and nothing new came up

Did you set an output path? Maybe the videos convert but they are somewhere else.

I have read this once already, and if you had fully understood my first post, i said that some video files are coming out perfectly fine, so obviously it's not me being a noob and forgetting where i said to put the files

I have a question, if I say that I got it to create a .dpg just fine and that I transferred that .dpg to my DS and it works fine, and everything else just made scripts, wouldn't it make sense that I did create an output folder and know where the stuff should be since I found the one that did create properly?  There should be no need to ask if I made an output folder when I tell you that out of the queue there was one that was created just fine.

If the last video in the queue converted then the others must of converted too.  Have you tried trying again?

spiderguy84

several times, it goes through the progress bar of converting audio and converting video, removes it from the queue, starts the next one, but when i go to the output folder this is what I get.  i had tried to convert Lost 218 Lost 219 Lost 223.  Here is what was in the output folder when all was finished.

Lost218.avi (Script file 200B)
Lost223.dpg (256 MB)
Lost219.avi (Script file 200B)

relax, only helping. I never said you were a noob (and being a noob is no big deal, everyone is one at some point). Only trying to help, remember you have the problem with this not me, i was trying to think of things that would cause this as I am not in front of your pc. And I am not the only one to suggest this.

with that said, we need more info from you to help you out.

what format are the avi, cause I had the same prob converting ipod mp4's as well as rmv files. Do you have the latest .net needed? Are they all avi files?

reboot pc. try only one at a time.
