How reliable is the AK products vs SC, CycloDS, original R4? I guess you can scratch out the original R4 since they closed down and the ones in the market are clones.

I had the first one, and wasn't that impressed, but the second one was good.  so probably this dsi version is good.

my fav DSLite cart ended up being the CycloDS evolution.  others had interesting features, but cyclods really just worked without too much hassle.

hope they come out with a DSi version, or miraculously update the current model to work on DSi.

wouldn't it be nice if we just had custom firmwares to allow us to run legally backed-up games off the SD slot? (ala PSP)

Good stuff. Ordered a AK2i from RHS. If it's good, I'll probably order another one, but I'm really trying to hold out for a Cyclo version.

Well I could have returned it, but it's my daughter's b/day in a month and she is complaining even though my son bought it with his own money. If anyone in the uk is looking for a pink DS-lite there will be one going soon!

I have AK2i and I really like it. I use the Akio firmware and the "blue" skin, and it works as well as my M3 Simply (aka R4) does. It also has wifi update so I can update the AK2i's firmware wirelessly which the M3 Simply didn't have. The OS is fast and responsive.

And do any of you guys think that Nintendo will eventually have GBA games for sale in the DSi Store? (to play via SD card or whatever) or does the DSi totally lack the correct processor for GBA code?

That's the only thing holding me back.  I can't outright afford a DSi and Acekard2i, so I would be selling my DSLite to fund it.  And I sold my GBA SP a long time ago... so that would mean no more GBA (portably, anyway, and i dont wanna play it on my freaking PSP).

I do have a gba micro but the screen's so tiny, and my eyes are getting worse (IT work for 12 years).. and i don't think the battery's lasting very long..

sigh...

so what do you think?  will there ever be gba titles released for dsi?  I haven't spent ANY time looking into the processor types of the DSi, and never even bothered to find out if the original DS had a seperate GBA chipset in it, or not.

I am excited that the DSi has a faster processor and more ram.  hopefully the DSiware (whatever it's called) will be able to surpass DS games, or maybe they'll have a VC like the wii?  hmmm....

You can beat your ass that Nintendo took the GBA slot out of the DSi so that they could sell GBA games through their store. I believe it has already been announced at GDC that they would offer GameBoy, GameBoy Color, and GBA games for sale on the DSi's store.

I don't think it was announced, wasn't it some minute point in a handout?  Possibly a troll with some photoshopping skills?  If they announced it, I think it would be a much bigger deal on the net everywhere.

Akio firmware? Could you give me a link to the place for information on the different firmwares for the AK2? Mines should be coming in in a few days and I would like to research it a little bit.

The AKAIO firmware is available from the AceKArd site (AceKard All In One). We too have moved to this, though I don't know if you can use all of the AceKard skins on this (don't know why my 11 year old kept changing back to the Yoshi skin from the scantily clad young ladies).
