I have DS, Supercard SD and Superpass   is it worth to flash Flashme v5 ???  I read that v5 you dont have to open battery and do SL1 to flash v5?? is that right??

Thanks

IMO if you have superpass or an equivilant passme card stick with it :) There is very little game compatibility difference between flashme or passme these days.

Cline2

So it is better to use regular supercard and superpass   not flashme 5v?

I disagree. It is better to flash the DS. If your DS gets bricked and it's not flashed it will be a pain to recover the console. With flashme it is a lot easier.

Flashme is better for 2 big reasons:

#1: Using flashme assures that if your DS gets bricked you can unbrick it.

#2: Battery life is MUCH better with flashme then pass me.

Why is that? well with the latest super card firmware you no longer have to have a game in the DS slot. No game in the DS slot means no power is wasted powering either the DS game or the superpass (which eats even more power then just the game alone) This will save you a good hour/hour and half of power on a full charge.

I second that. Not only is it not easy to recover a bricked DS, but next to impossible if you are not tech savvy. I know I couldn't get a vanilla DS unbricked myself...

Flashing is easy, quick, and the protection from brickage alone should be motivation enough to do it. Besides, if you need the Superpass for compatibility, you can still use it with flashme...but you probably won't need to as the compatibility is very good now.

I completely did not think of power saving, good point! Wow, I was wondering why I had to charge less since I flashed!  :D

I will also add that Flashme rocks.  Recommended.

That is what I am afraid of!!

I don't know if I should go ahead and flash flashme v5 since it doesn't need to use SL1

Does it have to use ABYX every time you turn DS on to get DS mode??

What about GBA mode??  just turn DS on without use ABYX?

Koji

All versions will require you to use the SL-1 contact the first time you install it. It's not near as scary as it sounds... all you are doing it make contact between 2 metal contacts behind a sticker.

Cline2

AAHHH!! That's what I am saying!!   I thought Flashme v5 doesnt need it only earlier versions????   too risky for me to do it!!!

karurosu

It's not as risky as you think, just make the following if you feel more comfortable:

- Put some tape to hold the battery so it won't fell when turning the NDS to see the progress (it's difficult, but just in case)

- Get somebody to hold the NDS so you don't press the power button by mistake (make sure the NDS is held from the sides)

- use a mirror if you don't want to turn around the NDS to see the percentage (if you want)

It only needs to be shorted for about 20 seconds, so it's not much.
Of course, it's up to you to flash or not, but using flashme is easier and safer (if someone pulls your passme by mistake they can damage the NDS slot)

It should have said in the corner while you were installing it. Otherwise there is no way to know.

^_^ and see, the SL-1 contact isn't near as scary as it first seemed was it? It's not like a console system where you had to solder a mod chip or anything into (now that'd be a pain)

Cline2

yeah it was v5 when I tried to flash it first time

so whenever the next version of flashme   should be no problem?? I mean to flash it without use SL1   correct???
