4) it makes no differece between large games / small games or pull out the cf after loading or leaf it in

We may be having 2 different problems, because once the SuperCard loads a GBA rom, and I yank the CF out, I have absolutely no problems. With the CF card out I have played games for almost an hour without any problems at all.  If I leave the CF card in, it will always crash in less than 2 minutes.

I believe this problem is CF releated because I have now tried 2 different CF cards in my DS.  While they both crashed the DS, they both exhibited VERY different behavior:

256MB SanDisk(NOT Ultra) - Most games get past the logos, and crash shortly after I begin play if I do not remove the CF card.

512MB Kodak(Lexar) - Would crash immediately after loading, and most games would NOT even make it to the menu screen first.

With this said, I was able to play movies, music, emulators perfectly on both cards. *shrug*

EDIT: Tonight I am going to see if I can try my SuperCard in a friends SP to see if I have any luck and will report back.

Quote from: "Diablo"Not to speak for him, but I know NTolerance uses a 256 MB Kingston CF, with v1.43 firmware (I believe), and he has the new DS-compatible version of the Supercard.

Correct.

Deadmon

I believe nvs has a Ultra speed SanDisk card, since I have 2 512 normal speed cards, and neither work.

Maybe I should try a Kingston 256MB...

Ah, at the moment, I'm just pulling the CF card out after the game has loaded, then after saving, I would do the QPC method on the CF card.

nvs

Mine is actually a regular blue-label SanDisk 512. (!)

Diablo

How about you guys post the serial numbers of your cards?  It may be enlightening...

C_L_M

of the sc or the cf?

(if sc, where do i find the sn?)

I don't even think the SC even has a serial number.  I'm sure he's referring to the CF cards.

Diablo

Yes, I'm referring to CF cards.
b]"Speak of the devil and he appears."[/b]

Deadmon

Would it be something like this?

AX0307UG
China

AX0408UGB
China

Found on the side of the CF.

And nvs is using the standard blue one...frightening...o_O didn't expect that..

Diablo

Those look plausible, yes.  They're certainly not the model numbers.
b]"Speak of the devil and he appears."[/b]

Deadmon

Now to await the other numbers...

nvs, did you have to do anything to your SanDisk card? Formatted it first? Anything? Default space is 488 MB? Worked on first try? :O

nvs

Nothing special, formatted it under Windows XP through the GUI, "FAT" filesystem.  Sounds about right for the available space, and yes, first try was successful.

check this out..  the problem is the combo of the crappy ram and the ds.  or maybe a voltage difference from gba, but the ds is definitely the blame when it comes to compatibility issues with flashcarts and such.  i have an old FA 128 turbo cartridge that crashes soon after booting.  the crash is a freeze accompanied by screetching/bleeping audio.  my flash cartridge is one of maybe 2 that have this problem and i guess you can add the supercard to the list.  i'm guessing that either the supercard is more resiliant to these crashes than my flash cartridge considering there's not many reports (but maybe everyone uses gba or something?)  anyway, here's all the more reason for a NEW SUPERCARD VERSION!!  quality ram which won't crash on the ds or create slowdown, and SD SUPPORT.  personally, i am not buying a supercard until a new version comes out that fixes slowdown and now, crashing on the ds... :?  man, i really don't want to have to shell out way too much money for a new flash cartrdige.  we need a new supercard, the slowdown alone defeats its purpose!

If it was the RAM or voltage issue, it probably wouldn't make sense that the SC would continue working perfectly once the CF is removed.  My feeling is that there is a problem between the SC and CF that ends up effecting the DS differently from an SP. Also, it seems that since the interaction between the SC and CF is done with the firmware on the SC, it's something that could be fixed.
