everytime i try patching homebrew games, they output at 0kb. if i rename the .ds.gba to .nds, it crashes. usually the nds versions dont work, but if i rename the .ds.gba to nds, it plays, but it doesnt save

how do i get them to save? namely, picrossds and rush hour. they both suppose saving, so im confused.

Create a *.sav file with the same filename barre the extension.

ive tried that. should it be just a save from another game renamed, or something like renaming a 0kb txt file?

The former.

You do need to create the .sav file, but it doesnt automatically save to the file for you.  You have to reboot your NDS(shut it off and on, and do it before the capacitors die) then go to the load menu, hit right to get the saver section, scroll down to the sav file, and hit the button to save to it.

It WILL auto load from it, but auto saving would require a patch, and there is no homebrew patch for this.

What about in-game reset?

Asuming you mean reset to menu, that would require a patch, and again there is not one for homebrew
