Im getting ready to buy a supercard, and im still not sure whether I should go with the SD or CF version yet?

CF - larger amounts of ram available, but larger size

SD - I already have an sd slot on my laptop, but Ive heard there are speed issues/ media compatability issues. ect, any advice.

Since Im just getting started does it even matter?

Currently CF has better compatibility with homebrew apps/games that directly access the CF/SD.  Although this is quickly becoming a legacy issue.

The CF version sticks out of the front more.

The SD version requires the supercard to be removed to get access to the SD.

If you are thinking about getting a 1GB or 2GB CF/SD, large SD seem to be cheaper (in USA).

I purchased the SD version because I already had SD media for my digital camera, etc.  Works great with my 2GB 150X SD.

And CF doesn't really have larger cards available, and even if they did the supercard is limited to 4GB in size (some 4GB work, some don't)

I just started out with this stuff a couple of weeks ago, like you, I wasnt sure which way to go. In the end, I purchased the SD version and have been happy ever since. It would seem to me (and I may be wrong), the slowdowns reported on SD were pre 1.60 version firmware. the supercard.cn site suggests some IO performance changes in the 1.60 firmware.

I have had no noticable slowdowns with my SC SD and an A-Data 150x 1GB SD card.

good luck  :D

You can see what I use in my sig. I purchased my gear at Wallmart because they will take anything on return if I happen to mess it up (in fact my son dropped my DS and cracked it and they took it back). Every DS game I have tried loads up quickly and plays just fine.

I have both the CF and SD versions and I havent knoticed a difference between them.  Exept the CF is easier to take out. So basicaly get the one you think looks the best, or if you already have a SD or CF card, then  just get that one.

1gb sd card.

I use the CF version. To connect to the PC I use 1 of the universal USB connector things.

It does stick out more, but it's a lot easier to remove [which I do often].
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
