Hmm, I can't seem to find the post... Deleted possibly?

Yes, I know that, but still, I don't see why people would flash it with a version that is not designed for it and would cripple it's functionality. I know I would not flash a DS Lite until a DS Lite verion of flashme was released - but that's just me.

Reason being is that it is known to work with both V6 and V7. Sure you lose the screen brightness functionality but it's no big deal as it could be restored once a new flashme firm is released.

Hmm, it seems you're not alone, capsule:

At the very end of that thread, someone else whose Lite turned off at 1% ... Also, I got an email from someone saying that they had bricked their Lite as well ...

I just got a shiny new DS Lite Navy and tried to install flashme.

To cut a long story short I had the 1% switch off 'brick'. I guess it wasn't an April fool after all.

As mentioned elsewhere in the thread when I turned the power on it just gave me the green power light, but nothing on the display.

However I managed to recover it!

I took out the superpass 2, and powered on holding down START+SELECT+A+B. This looked exactly the same as before, however when I pressed A the Supercard loader started. I then ran Flashme again and it started at 1% before bridging SL1 - when I bridged it just continued.

End result - success. I hope anyone who has had problems tries this method as it worked for me.

Thanks for your posting Carty. Glad you were lucky and managed to recover!

Was this one from the latest batch of DSes released here in Japan  (03/31) or an import?

What version of flashme did you use V6 or V7 and did you go stealth or regular?

bitoy

i'm newbie in terms of flashme, but looking into the details of experiences of bricked ds lite and those who succeededly surpassed 1%, possible that nintendo had some sort of protection for the latest batches of ds lites. but just a thought, could it also be that your supercard sd is not functioning well while you are trying to blindly accessing the flashme.nds file because both screens are blacked out? because usually supercard encounters "SD not found", so even if you don't see anything and press the A button, nothing would happen... because some people experienced both screens blacked out but still performed the flashme.nds blindly by pressing A to run it..

sorry if it doesn't work, its just a minor possibility that i thought of..

Thanks - for a moment there I thought it was a very expensive paperweight that I had created.

The device was picked up from Tokyo on the 21st, so it was an older shipment, and I put the regular V7 flashme on.

Also, we actually got two and I did them both - the second one worked without a problem at all.

So paranoid about flashing my new lite now, just using my passme until I find out some more information

Carty:  PHEW!  I was really feeling bad for ya there.  :)

Cheers! I bet it wasn't as bad as I felt though :D. I was just sat there going "d'oh!"

Thanks Redcage for the information - I would never have thought of doing what you said and trying to navigate blind. I just hope others can get this working too.

When I saw the SC menu come up I was \m/ !

Badbob, that's even more dangerous actually! If you run a rom on your DS that is a bricker you can completely kill it. This is the one of the benefits of flashme...it allows you to recover it if you brick it. The trick, of course, is getting it to complete the intitial firmware upgrade.

Carnivean

the likelyness of finding a rom to brick it is extremely low though.

Well I test new software on my flashed regular DS before I let it near the lite anyway.  Getting sick of using passme though and starting to worry about mashing up the pins in the DS slot so think I might just build up the courage and flash it :?

there are so few instances of this happening, that I doubt it's a serious concern now.  maybe If you are the type who tries every homebrew app that you come across, then it may be a concern, but I think DSLazy can pick up bricker code too, so that is one solution...

I've been using flashme since it came out, on 3 different DS's (white, blue, silver), but I'm not about to flash my Lite and lose the ability to change the backlight settings.  It is a very useful feature. just last night i was playing a game in bed cause I coudn't sleep. If it was stuck on the second highest brightness, I would have gone blind

I have just tried flashing my White DS Lite and it worked up until 26% and shutdown, but I tried Start+Select+A+B and then A and nothing black screens all the time  :( . The green light does come on every time and it doesn't flash. I used a CF Supercard and Superpass 2, I have removed the Superpass 2 before trying to recover. I got my DSLite from ebay Before the end of march and the guy had himself got it from Japan a week earlier so I don't think its latest batch (and serial number starts UJF1003**** so it looks from the early batch)
Any ideas? I press Start+Select+A+B and then while pressed I turn power on, do I hold them pressed for much longer or release them as soon as power is on?
Surely If its gone to 26% I should be able to recover?
