Quote from: "Yautja"has anyone tried this FW with a regular NDS? I am wondering if you can adjust the screen brightness.... i might try it out tonight ... but am afraid of bricking my ds or otherwise making it inoperable...

EDIT: i have flashed my regular ds with it, screen brightness adjustment doesnt work and the only bug i can see with flashing your NDS with this FW is you cant turn OFF your backlight... but oh well no harm done (i am back to regular v7 FW

Greetz!

Just wanted to add that I just got one of the latest "waves" of white DS Lites here in Tokyo for a friend, and when flashing it with the latest version 7 lite flashme, I got the "version not recognized" message!  I flashed anyway and all worked fine.

Hope this is useful information for someone.

Does the LCD lamp (old DS) physically change brightness, or is brightness achieved by programmatically adjusting screen color intensities?

berlinka

Allright, LuCieD, my sincere apologies. That was rude and unkind. It was just that I had read other stories. But looking at this I can understand you believe it's real. Still I almost can't believe this and I think of a hoax!

rmg

has anyone got this working on a UK silver mario kart pack DS?  Is it safe to run this flash on a normal DS?

Madrigal

To get it working, you need a new DS with v5 firmware. It in fact has nothing to do with the firmware itself, but there has been a hardware change in the new models that makes flashme to think it's a Lite and thus allow you to adjust the brightness.

i have a modified silver DS and a supercard.. so i need a superpass2 again to change the brightness of my DS?

so i have to flash it again? coz i had my ds modified when i bought so i have no superpass.

stingray1059

well according to http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

QuoteSupercard can also be used but it starts with black screens: put FlashMe on the media card, boot with fail-safe buttons pressed, press A button a few times to launch FlashMe.

i dont have  a superpass and i want to update the firmware of my silver DS with version V7.

silver nds is V5 right?

i want to try this but i need some confirmation form you guys because im so afraid to brick my DS.

ratx

I dunno if silver = V5, but when you run flashme it will tell you your original FW revision. You can install flashme again without a passme... just don't uninstall it....

stingray1059

wow thats a quick reply..

will try it with my supercard without a superpass..

how to do the fail-safe function?
do i need to still bridge the SL1?
