Prema

From your guide:"When you booted FlashMe from your device (SuperCard ...), put the broken bios chip back."

It should be: "Boot up your device (SuperCard...)! Now switch to the broken bios chip and start up Flashme"

If you start Flashme before you swap to the unflashed bios chip it will not recognise it, directly go to 100% without shorting SL1 and not flash the chip.

Thanks for the correction Prema, I changed it :)

To remove the bottom cover of the DS Lite there are four tri-wing screws near the corners and near slot 1, and two philip screws under the rubber foot pads and one more in the battery compartment.  There is a second philip screw in the battery compartment that does not need to be touched unless you want to remove the DS Lite main board.

I got my friend's tri-wing scredriver and open up everything fine.  But a new problem showed up.  After I close my back plate the DS wont power up.  When I plug in the power cord, the left led lit up for a sec then goes off....

Anyway to fix that?? I think i rad the solution here somewhere but juts cant find it at this moment.

Did you put the BIOS back correctly with the black wire?

Search the forums for keyword "fuse".

DS short circuit + blown fuse != "Bricker"

Is there an app other then NoFlashMe that is able to write back a dump of your DS's bios (your own dump .bin)?

Apparently DSLinux can do it but I haven't tried it myself yet.

EDIT:
Writing back to the firmware is not implemented.

Scor

Yes I knew pepsiman had implemented firmware backup into DSlinux.
Sadly no writing is supported, but isn't there a standalone app?

Unfortunately no.

I bricked my DS Lite using a flat-headed mini screwdriver. May I p[lease refer you to my original thread:

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=72872

Progress got to 1% (yes, one percent) before DS lite powering off. Now I am left with an expensive paperweight. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I will try and keep my eye on this thread for responses.

Thanks in advance,

- Rufus

(maxconsole.net was down for service so I couldn't read your original thread)

Have you already tried the flashme recovery method? Most of the time that method will work and you can continue the flashing process . . .

http://home.comcast.net/~olimar/flashme/
Recovery: Failsafe code is written into the first few blocks of firmware, in case the flashing procedure gets interrupted or malicious software overwrites part of your firmware. If your firmware gets corrupt, hold START+SELECT to boot directly to SLOT-1 or SLOT-2. From there, you can run flashme or noflashme to repair it

(Note with older versions of flashme you need to hold A+B+SELECT+START.)

If you read this entire thread then you should know that a "bricked" DS Lite can be recovered using the BIOS swap procedure.  It works perfectly as long as you have a tri-wing screwdriver and access to another working DS Lite.  There is no way to mess up the working DS Lite because the BIOS is swapped back before running flashme again. If you don't have the means to preform the procedure then you can try my DS Lite recovery service . . .

Woo hoo  :D

I just flashed my faulty black NDSlite which was bricked, but using the guide here it now works  perfectly  :smitten:

I used my daughters DSlite as my white dslite has a large bit of blue tack in it holding the touch screen ribbon in place so didn't wan't to disturb it! i will need to do the same with this one when i find another bit of blue tack lying around but its back to life.

The one thing i did manage to do is break the power switch button so i need to use a small skrew driver to press it on and off but again ill get that sorted out, so atleast my wife can have a ds now for here diner dash.

thanks to this forum for the great fix . .paul
