Shit sorry to hear that. Well, welcome to the club.

I was talking about DeVS.

If nintendo made it harder to flash a ds lite on purpose it just hurt them because now all the people who brick theirs will return theirs and it will cost nintendo alot of money

Not nessarily. I doubt i will try as mine was bought from Gamestop and the people there know a bit more than your Walmart employee.

I've lost connection, and it doesn't appear to cause the problem.

I cant confirm or deny that re-shorting SL1 after starting causes shutdown, have you seen this happen bitblt? Glad to know that the chip is indeed swappable :)

No, I haven't seen this problem yet.  I did tested my US NDSL for the "shut-off" feature before I flashed, and it was safe.  This doesn't mean all US versions are going to be safe.  Who knows what Nintendo shipped throughout the US, and worldwide.  I believe Daveychan has definitely discovered something that is present in some NDSL versions.

ALTERNATIVE

I just flashed my DS Lite yesterday. I bridged SL1 once and unbridged it after it was at 1%. I then re-bridged and unbridged it again several times. I got to 100% with no power loss at all.

you mean... I can brick my ds and pay 10 bucks for a new DS Lite? even if its like... 2 years old???  :o

back on subject.
I was helping a friend flash his DS Lite... and he was so careless. all he did was put a paper ball on top of the screw, and shove some tin foil in the SL-1 slot.

but... funny thing was... he flashed it perfectly.  :?
how are people bricking theirs?

Well, my DS was only 6 months old and in flawless condition because I always use a case, so it looked brand new. The part where it plugs in to charge was a little loose, so I used that as an exuse and told them it won't charge anymore   . The clerk didn't want to let me return it without a reciept, but you just ask for the manager and complain. It's thier job to keep the customers happy ;) Keep in mind this is at Wallmart. I don't think it would work too well at something like EB games or a small mom and pop store.

:P Well of course not. They are not going to let me exchange it if I tell them my unlicenced flashcart short circuit it
