I just realized that in some games like Advance Wars Dual Strike and Resident Evil Deadly Silence, the sub name (not really sure what its actually called) the first letters make DS.  I was wondering if this was just a coincidence or was it intentional?

It's definitely intentional...there are quite a few other games with "DS" after them too.  Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow for example.
