I do not trust myself to flash a DS Lite so have sent it to a company to do it for me. My question is, should the ds lire flashme be updated will we need to short the SL1 again or will this not be required as with phat ds?

Currently there is no need to short SL1 again.

IIRC I had to short SL1 when I upgraded my DS Phat flashme at least a couple of times.  I thought that part of the brick protection of flashme was to write-protect the first crucial bytes of the firmware and require an SL1 short to overwrite those bytes.   :?:

On the Ds phat when I needed to update sometimes it would not need to be shorted and sometimes it did.  I think it depends on what is updated in the new flashme.

I think this has been the case since upgrading to flashme version 6.  As long as future versions of flashme don't need to change the protected section of BIOS then there is no need to short SL1 again.
