I hope what they say is true and the price premium over the SD won't be too high.  I actually don't mind patching games and all of a sudden, the Supercard is full of promise :)
I'll wait for the reviews before jumping into the M3 moneypit thanks to the newfound DS capabilities of the Supercard.

Duckbite

Yeah i agree, the new developments promise a lot!
To be honest i think Supercard has striked back with the new DS options! :)

joele

we'll see what they actually deliver....  ;-)

Just checking out the site and having a laugh at "the similar product" comparison :)

The fetures on the M3 sound amazing if they pan out tho I am a little worried about the size of the CF version

Like everyone else here I will wait for good reviews before deciding if I want to change or stick with "SupXX CaXd"

The inaccuracy of their product "comparison" with the supercard (ie the "other businessmen" and "the similar product") seems just like some form of childish revenge on the part of  gba MP staff, not exactly the best way to sell their product in a professional sense, really -

Inside the mind of M3 (as seen by me :D )
"they may have done it first by stealing from our origional movie player, but we did this first a month ago and just didn't tell anyone about it... wait a minute, (M3 shakes head) we have to actually release details on our products because those guys who we said couldn't do it just did it and released it for ... sigh ... free? And now they are working on a way to use the SD/CF directly for roms larger than 256mbit so they dont need to be copied to the carts memory? AND the SC SD doesnt stick out like 2 gba games pasted to eachother? Uhmm, well we better get this product out there before we cannot sell them at inflated pricing (goes to web page manager and adds news about the release date for... DOOH 3 weeks from now - ie the magic number they have been giving everyone for months)"

Sorry if I am more than a bit cynical, but it seems to me that the gba mp was not intended to play roms to begin with (gba or otherwise) so they are simply following suit to SuperCard, and their 3rd gen (M3) product would sell much better with good reviews wrather than lame attempts to bash their "competition" by maintaining false info on their site aimed at the guy who made/hacked up their product - but with ROM support/use in mind instead (and it just seems to me, and is left out of M3's thoughts, if anyone should be pissed it would be the big "N" as both supercard and gba mp both had to hack N's hardware to be able to sell their product)

Also, the situation between supercard and M3 seems very similar to the situation with Viper/Qoob modchips (gamecube) - Viper origionally intended to release a second hardware revison with all the features that it has now, wrather than update their current firmwares for customers who bought their product - and some of their staff split and made the Qoob forcing Viper to update their product without a new hardware release...

regardless of their business tactics, i'm sure they can't be as cheap as romman and use weak components to build their product like he did.  yeah, so supercard can run a few ds games....but if it can't even run gba games in full speed how can anyone be excited about the ds capabilitites?  ha, come to think of it, what does supercard mean?  first of all, it's not a card, the card is what you insert, and the "supercard" is the carTridge that you insert into the gba.  it's "cart" not "card" ugh..romman.  very original name he has there too.  basically he doesn't give a damn about his customers.  ntolerance...want to put a wager on whether or not the m3 will play yoshi at full speed??

stupid2ass

Hey romman is very much Chinese.  The cheapest parts that work :)
But I was really ticked when I got the CF version but the SD SC has been great so far for me and others here.  If I can recommend anything, I'd tell everyone to stay far away from the CF version.  It's built far too cheaply.
The fact it can play DS games/homebrew using EXISTING cheap hardware is a major bonus.
Nobody has reported any DS slowdowns.
And the M3 has been promising lots.  So far nothing.  We'll see how it goes down on the 30th.  From what I'm hearing, romman has taken the GBAMP marketshare from them bigtime and they're hurting bad thanks to the supercard.

Hectic

yeah, i understand, i'm sure it's a nice addition to all of the sudden be able to run ds games.  that's cool if there's no slowdown either, of course you still have the gba slowdown which was the main reason for buying it.  anyway, i feel that the supercard has never earned my measly $60 so they haven't taken this my share of the market away.  i've been waiting for soooooooooo loooong to get a replacement for my flash advance 128 turbo!!!!!  for the record, that is the second wave of flash cartridge to be commercially available for gba.  i spent $119 on it and vowed to not to buy an overpriced flash cartridge again.  it's been a long wait.  i was excited about supercard when i found out about it and registered here but the slowdowns and grahpic glitches ended that.  i've been waiting for a hardware improvement, and thought sd might be the answer, but it wasn't.  it seems like m3 is though.  if it lives up to its promises, it should virtually have a monopoly over the entire pirate cartridge industry.  who would go buy a neoflash for $200 now?

joele

Hectic are you talking about the CF or the SD versions regarding slow down?

I think they must be very different, I recently purchased the SD version of the Supercard and have tried around 50 games so far and have found 2 games that slow down, that being GTA and MarioKart... pretty decent hit rate IMO... not perfect but for the unlimited memory potential of the supercard and at US$60 (shipped) I am more than happy...

Quotebasically he doesn't give a damn about his customers"

if that was the case he would behave like neo flash, changing the cart ID of their cartridges so they could sell the same cartridges with a different label for 3 times the price... And I doubt he would give us DS support on the same card (cartridge) for the same price, and as with the vast majority of GBA games the three games supported so far on the DS have no slowdown...

P.S. Maybe he called it supercard, as it uses CF and SD CARDS.... Or maybe it is simply a language issue, not everyone speaks english as their first language... the name certainly didn't affect my purchase decision...

In the end M3 have made a lot of claims but they keep delaying the release and we are yet to see proof of this 'perfect' and cheap card... maybe it will be great? maybe not? it is still far too early to say for sure, the only thing I can see for sure is that they fear the supercard, otherwise they wouldn't keep bagging it on their site...

[Jez]

The main two problems I have with Supercard are:
1 I bought the CF version a week before the SD version was releasted... so as soon as I bought it they was a better version aviable at the same price and the value of mine droped £15 :(

2 While I dont mind patching games the newer games can take a month or two to be suported while romman updates the software, and that his software documentation is alomst non existent

other than that I'm very happy with my supercard, the few slowdown games I want to badly I can buy on ebay (go Astroboy :) ) I just wish he would release details on the romdat file so smarter people then me could look at it :)

Hectic

hey, jez.  the referral scheme you're doing...how many referrals have you gotten so far?  i completed a program for a free psp which required no referrals at all.  it's only valid in the us though.  anyway, in the end, i ended up with a brand new v 1.5 for $18!  the referral ones seem tough though.  is it?

[Jez]

Im going for a DS and I need 6 refs, so far I've only got 1 tho :(
The offers you need to sign up for seem okay, I'm on a trail of a dvd rental offer, 6 free rentals in the first two weeks... then I'm gonna can the account and pick it back up in a few months when I have more cash

I have just ordered my M3 Adapter this week.  Hopefully it will arive within 2 weeks after all the bank clearing and what not.  I should be able to let you all know whether it live up to what it claims.

One thing for sure is that it does not support compress rom meaning it cannot hold as many rom as supercard can.  Anyway who care, we can have the 1 Gb CF to play with.

The feature that are obviously left out by supercard are :-

1. Real Time Clock.
2. Battery backup on game save.
3. Clean GBA ROM without patch.  (This is what I am really interest in)
4. No Slow down. (I will use 402 Super Mario Advance 2). Since I have both EZflash 3, Supercard, and now M3 to compare with.

I tested the 402 super mario adv 2 on supercard.  Some people here says mild slow down.  but from I experience after comparing with original cart, and EZFlash 3.  You will notice the slow down really irritating while playing this game.  You can try what ever patch that you would call it.  The slow down is still there.  Don't deny it.

From what I see, this M3 is like a marriage between EZflash 3 and Supercard by taking the best feature of the two except the size.
