Virtual Game Maker DS (this), very similar to RM2k/3, is a project in development for the DS, but currently only supports CF cards. Many people are dissapointed with this, because they like RM2k and want to use it on DS.

Globoeil is wondering why very little people show interest in VGMDS, and I told him that its because nearly 1/5 of the scene uses CF cards, because of the new DS Lites and micro-sd media, and mini-sd for flush normal NDS

Globoeil wants to know!

He didn't know that was the reason? Sheesh, no offence but I thought it was obvious. But in answer to your question, I would use it if the events turned out to be complex enough to design custom systems (ie variables, fork conditions and show picture commands).

Also I'm concerned about the continually references to making the games being 'easy'. I'm sure anyone experienced with RM2K would agree that to make a decent game takes a lot of work and tricky event programming that can take more than a year to comprehend completely. If by programming games easy means that all this program will do is make simple rtp-like games with no individuality then maybe I'm not so interested.

I think Globoeil has done some fine work.  I believe part of the problem is that real game coders will only be curious, and wannabe game makers will get overwhelmed, so that leaves a small audience of creative people who will appreciate this work.

Yes I would, but it would also be nice to have the source available to I could just add the SD code (well glue it in from SaTas code) and it would also be good to have a PC version of the application that could compile the games for the DS.

Actually, variables, event pages, switches, and show picture is going to be in the next version :)
I will suggest fork conditions for the version after this

You can use your own graphics, its not RTP-only
You can make complex games, just like RM2k/3

I forgot to add an option to the poll...

"I wouldn't make anything with it, but I may play some finished games"

Would this apply to any of you? Devil Spawn? Or are you just not interested at all? :)

Good news!

Quote from: "globoeil"To make VGMDS works with memory cards, I use "Chishm's FAT driver"; these drivers just allows compatibility with CF and MMC-based cards.
I will search out for SD-compatible drivers and compile a special version for that.
